Worst Customer Service Experience, Maybe Ever – I am a longtime Boulder resident, and a resident of North Boulder since 2008. I visited Ginger and Pickles last week for the first time with my 21 month old son. I was not welcomed to the store. I was not asked if they could help me in any way, and it got a lot worse from there.

I am a regular customer at Grand Rabbits in Boulder, and the staff there recommended Ginger and Pickles, saying that they had a very high-end brand of tricycles I could look at. From the moment I walked into their store I felt unwelcome. Right after I arrived, I witnessed a mother with her toddler and infant baby girl, being carried by the mother in a car seat, have a heavy wooden ironing board that was hanging on a store peg, get knocked askew by the edge of the car seat. It fell off and landed on top of the car seat, nearly hitting the infant! Thank GOD for the car seat's carry bar, without it the baby would have been badly injured. I witnessed the whole thing, heard the gasp from the mother, and I said loudly that "this thing needs to go!" - meaning the ironing board needed to be moved to a safer place. A sales clerk came over, picked up the ironing board to move it but said NOTHING to the mother or me! It was astounding, not even a small apology and a check to make sure everyone was ok!!!

The mother and her two children left and my son and I began looking about the store to see the quality and type of toys and items available. We were the only customers in the store. Neither employee asked me if there was something they could help me find. My son discovered their train section as he loves trains. I asked the sales clerk if they were compatible with the Thomas track set in terms of size as I was considering buying some to add to my son's set. She and her colleague both said yes. I said I was glad because I'd had some trouble with the Chuggington cars not fitting through tunnels and under bridges on the Thomas track materials. The woman with dark hair said she'd never heard of Chuggington. I explained, politely, that it was another train show and train toys developed for toddlers that was started in England, and that a lot of parents and children prefer them to Thomas because the characters are not only children themselves but they are a lot nicer than the Thomas characters. I tried to show the lady with black hair some of the Chuggington videos that I have on my i-phone so she could know about it for the next customer who asked but she peaked at it for maybe 5 seconds, the turned her back on me and walked away, saying nothing!

I then told the white haired lady that Grand Rabbits had recommended I visit Ginger and Pickles to see their tricycles. I asked what tricycles they had. She said, "we have push bikes and whatever's up there" pointing to above the front doorway and then she went back to what she was doing. That was her response, not any details about what tricycles they might have had in the past, or could order, nothing about other types of ride-ons or bicycles or things similar, just "go look there."

My son is a very well-behaved child. He was fascinated by some nice toys in the store, including the yellow gardening hoe on the wall, which he asked me to pull down for him which I did. He was carrying it (gently) around the store for a few minutes, as I was considering whether to buy it for him, when the lady with white hair said "Can you take that away from your child and put it back so it can be bought by another child without damage." I took the hoe away, put it gently back on its hook, picked up my son, and left. I will never return. I wrote all of this experience in an email to the store but have not heard back.
