Cody Inn hits the mark, what an awesome view & great veal! – A group of us took the trek to the Cody Inn for the Italian Culture dinner and WOW! I was really impressed. The wines matched each course to perfection and I was particularly pleased with the Stracciatelli (sp?) which was an Italian egg drop soup, it was served with a perfect chardonnay. the veal was fabulous (and the left overs made for some great soup later) Lady Caution-Large Portions.

All the wines came from the same Italian vineyard and the owner was AT the event, very cool! We got to hear about how the wines were made and different attributes that made them an appropriate match for the food. For $60 bucks (all inclusive), this was a screaming deal, loved every minute of it.

Also, the staff were very impressive, stepping and fetching in perfect synchronicity. Amazing that they could serve all those people virtually simultaneously - they definitely earned their tips and were super sweet throughout the evening....Just one question....WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE?

1/18/11 UPDATE: ANOTHER GREAT MEAL! My date took me for a really relaxing wine dinner at the Cody Inn and definitely understand why they nickname it the COZY Inn, very romantic! The Lamb was delicious and wines were again, paired perfectly. My date was for sure scoring points with me and now he knows where to take me for Valentines Day! Great food, Great Atmosphere, and GREAT SERVICE! Loved it! Definitely recommend it!

Horrible – Our dinner here was a disaster. They one had one kid menu, spilled a glass of water on everyone, took 45 minutes to bring out four sliders (precooked meat on untoasted rolls). Drink orders were not filled.

One hour and forty-five minutes after we arrived, our dinners still had not come out. We told the manager we wanted to leave and he said the meal would be right out and he would adjust the bill. When the food did come it was of mixed quality (veal good, steaks tough) and the restaurant only had one steak knife for three people.

When the bill came, the promised adjustment was not on the bill, so we had to wait another ten minutes for it to be fixed

Waitress was rude and blamed the delay on the sliders and the crowd (the restaurant was never completely full.)

Also, decor was just so-so and there is no view.

Great food, cozy and romantic – A cozy and relaxed atmosphere with very good food. Large portions and great specials. Good wines for under $30 a bottle.

We will be back to try brunch and the two for $5 blackened fish tacos.

Antidote for cookie cutter restaurants – Denver has a real national treasure: Owner/Chef Paul Gummerson. He is from 'the old school" - and he can cook! The Cody Inn is in a scenic location - off the beaten track, but easily reached. The "old school" continental menu and attentive and knowledgeable service provided by "Chef Paul" and his wife Perri is attractively combined with "new school" weekly specials, eg. the Tuesday $10 steak dinner, the Wednesday $15 "Beat the Recession 4 course Dinner," the Thursday night "50% Off Any Bottle of Wine on the list with Dinner" and the Friday-Saturday-Sunday

“This week ends Feature” menu. And, the Sunday Brunch is incomparable.....cookie-cutter this restaurant is not! Go with high expectations and be prepared to enjoy.

Tastful European Embiance - Beautiful Drive to Historic Site – The owner/chef serves up the kind of food you would expect to find in an high-end European ski challet/restaurant. He is a man who really loves to cook - it is truly his passion. The outside of the little Cody Inn belies it's cuisine. The entrees speak of Central Europe, but occasionally reach out to other corners of Continent.

The staff is always genuine, mostly of central European descent - for that authentic old world service.

Try the Duck al'Orange, Gulash or Weiner Schnitzel - although sometimes level of quality has been inconsistent, but still worthy of a good review.

Make a day of it by visiting Buffalo Bill's Memorial only a half a mile away. You can easily get there from the Lookout Mountain exit off of I-70, but for a driver's challenge, especially if you like switchbacks, the Golden Lookout Mountain side is the best way to go.
