Originally built to attract business from political figures, the house was made of stone from Golden's quarries. – In Short
The building has gone from upscale hotel to boarding house to dorms and finally a museum. Most of the space is dedicated to showing off the boarding house. Also of interest are the quilts from the 1880s, a roll-top desk belonging to former Postmaster Horace Tabor and the 1890s kitchen. The museum also houses a Victorian Gift Shop that sells collectibles, cookbooks, calendars, jams, candles and children's stuffed animals made from antique quilts that can no longer be repaired.
