heavenonearth – After the almighty finished his seven days of work, he proceeded to the back bowls of vail. If there is indeed a nirvana, it is on a fresh powder morning at the back bowls.

All other resorts are pretenders to this vast expanse of heaven. Vail rules them all

Still One of the Best! – For fresh pow, the back bowls can't be beat. The parking situation REALLY sucks but being a former local, I have my place where I can park for free until noon or so and be on the hill in 10 minutes. The pretense is always an issue too but all you have to do is laugh at those people and enjoy your day. Nothing beats a long day of skiing by capping it off with run down the minturn mile and a margarita at the saloon, too!

Reputants Ribbons???? – Come on, Citysearch.....The run is called Rasputin's

Revenge! Anyway, Vail Rocks.....I lived there for three years and now that I'm in Denver its still the only place I ski. A little longer drive than the Summit County hills, but well worth it.

Why pay more? – I've been to Vail a few times and the skiing is good. Especially the back bowls. But it's extremely expensive and not family friendly. Living in the Denver Metro area, why would you drive all the way to way to Vail when you have such good skiing 30 minutes closer at Copper. Vail just has an attitude about it that money rules and skiing is secondary. I'm more concerned about skiing than what skis I have and how much I paid for my coat. Parking is extremly expensive on top of the most expensive lift ticket in the country. I just prefer to ski places with less attitude.

telluride – Telluride CO IS by far the absolute best ski resort in colo and maybe the whole country. It is like Switzerland w/its mountains and its beauty. Has great snow "deep and steep" and a 750 acre new area for beginning and intermediate. Also NO LINES.... ski 2 hrs what would take you all day at any other resort. AND a rockin' night life.....need I say more????

But where do we park? – Sure, Vail is unsurpased in service, accomodations, terrain, snowfall and nightlife, but it certainly doesn't cater to locals. Unless you arrive at 6:30 in the morning, there are no free parking spots. And if you pay to park "close" (which will run you $12 a day or more) you still have to hike through the village, which is not fun - hauling gear and clomping around in ski boots. You would think they could accomodate people a little more since you drop a small fortune just to ski one day there.
