Infuriating – We made a "reservation" for 6 PM on Mother's Day. Last I knew, the didn't take reservations, they merely place your name on the waiting list, but I thought, "hey, that's great". We arrived 10 minutes early and were told 20-25 minutes. I chalked that up to a misunderstanding about reservation vs. waiting list, so I didn't complain.
After 40 minutes, my son checked on the list and was told we "next in line". 5 minutes later, after others had been seated, I went to the hostess, and she was telling another family that they were "next to be seated". At that point we looked at the list and 12 parties of four after us had been seated while we waited. Basically, they just seat whoever complains.
If you enjoy being lied to, this is the place to go.
And oh by the way, the server took drinks that had sat on our table for a couple of minutes and gave them to the correct table. They just asked us if we had drunk from them. I'm sure the health department would approve of that!
Never again if I can help it.
Not a pleasant experience – Our family dines at this place about twice per year and the experience has been good in the past. My wife choose Outback for Mother's Day dinner. What a mistake on my part. I ordered a filet to be cooked medium well. My son and wife ordered the same meal (filet and crab legs). My steak was practically rare and my son's was overcooked. It took forever to flag the waitress down to talk about this. Everyone was practically through eating when she came back around. They returned the steak and charred it. The manager brought it back and i cut into it. I made a casual comment that it was very well done now. He asked if i wanted a new steak and i accepted. This whole process took a long time. We have little ones and they were starting to act up. Everyone was through eating and waiting on me. By this time, i was not even hungry any more after salad and bread. They brought the steak and it was as rare as the first one. I said nothing and ate about half of it. Moreover, the mashed potatoes that we all ordered were very dry as if they were sitting under heat for a long, long time. Now the best part: I am writing this review in between trips to the bathroom this morning (next morning). Have been in there 5 times already and can't stop. I learned a valuable lesson from this - never, ever send a piece of meat back to the kitchen more than once!!! Should have been obvious, yes. Well, they got me back alright. I am miserable today. I have only returned a steak to a kitchen once in my life prior to this. i do not make a habit of doing this as long as it is reasonably close to what i ordered. i think i will never do it again and certainly will never eat at this place again.
Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor. – In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
