A real Jurassic Park? A geodesic dome houses 500 dinosaur tracks made more than 200 million years ago. – Overview
In Rocky Hill, just a few miles south of Hartford, lies a prehistoric wonderland with dinosaur tracks, interactive displays and life-size Triassic and Jurassic dioramas. The park also contains a 10-acre arboretum, two miles of nature trails and a picnic area.
Though the park has plenty to offer, the dinosaur tracks are the real draw. In 1966, 2,000 tracks were accidentally uncovered. What a find! Five hundred tracks that date back to the late-Triassic and early Jurassic periods have been preserved in their original locations and put on display. The remaining tracks on this registered natural landmark have been buried for preservation. The park also offers activities such as guided nature walks, films and, best of all, from May through October, the opportunity to make a do-it-yourself plaster cast of a dinosaur track.
