All New Menus and Better Serviceâ?? – Outrageously good. Versailles has been a Greenwich Avenue landmark for some thirty years. It was completely renovated about a year ago. I had visited it in the begining and the food was excellent but very much over priced. A friend of mine had visited there recently and said everything has changed. They have a new Bistro style menu which is very reasonably priced. The food and service was excellent. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch plus they are also a French pastry shop. We went for dinner and my friend was right. The menu is authentic. We felt as if we were in France. The escargot was one of the best I've had. Not to mention the sauteed skate in brown butter, and the steak frites were to die for. We will make this a regular destination for our dining choice. Going soon for the price fixed brunch.

Very good country style French cuisine – Having lived in France for 9 years, I can firmly say that Versailles compares very favorably with some of the best restaurants I have been to. I went for a late lunch with three other people, right before clsing in preparation for dinner, but they had no problems taking us. There was a quiet, country type of atmosphere inside, with service a bit on the slow side. I had the escargots which were cooked in the traditional manner, and the salad Dartagnan, which was full of duck and bacon. All I can say about the latter is wow! While this meal was not cheap, it was certainly reasonable considering the caliber of the food and the location of the restaurant. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself on Greenwich Ave.
