we've taken all 3 of our dogs there for years. yes it is a long wait, but well worth the price!! we drive an hour there and an hour back to save hundreds of dollars at Herschel compared to a regular vet. keep up the great service Herschel!
Thank you all @ Hershel for the great services you provided me with today. I called, you responded, & took care of my beagle in a very short time. This is why Hershel is # 1 in Jacksonville.
my dogs are always taken care of well here – i love Herschel, they always take good care of my dogs. plus its a cheep vet you cant ask for them to treat you like you have an appointment.
HORRIBLE SERVICE !!!!! – Took my dog to Herschel Animal Clinic because her normal vet is closed on Wednesdays.
Went in for a basic examine/treatment for dog pink eye and was informed they wouldn't even look at her if I didn't have her rabies shots records with me. I even asked what they would do if she was just hit by a car and was in life/death circumstances and they stated 'there was nothing they could do' without the records.
1. The place I'd get the records from was closed - thus the reason I was there.
2. She's a 10 month old puppy and she has her city rabies tag on her collar - she wouldn't have the tag if she didn't have her shots and, at her age, it would be impossible for her to be due for another shot.
3. Another vet saw her just fine later today (WITHOUT the rabies records) and gave her terrific treatment.
It's obvious that animal care is not their number one concern. I should have read these reviews before even wasting my time this morning. Thank god it wasn't a time sensitive emergency. These people are horrible - never again.
thay will kill your pet – thay suck i would never use them any more
Will never go back here! – DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE!
I rescued a little kitten on Christmas from a vending machine and in last attempts to save him decided to stop at this clinic before going to Animal Care and Protective Services. Clerk at desk told me the visit would be $47 with shots given. I asked how long the wait was and he said a matter of 10-15 mins max. We got in quickly. I had also informed the clerk that I couldn't afford much since I was unemployed. That being said the vet, Dr. Plant with (I assume a tech) came into the room, didn't say one word to me. Pulled the kitten out and started jabbing him without saying anything to me. Then drew small amount of blood for testing, without informing testing was going to be done and that would be charged to me as well. Left me in the room without saying anything but that they needed to check something. Left me waiting again without saying anything for another 10 minutes and then returned saying he was negative for the testing they performed. Then, proceeded to pull the kitten out again and weigh him and grab out some meds of some sort and said under their breath to me .035 ml while handing the meds to me. I then being a concerned animal lover asked about what was tested and how many eye drops needed to be given and how many times a day. It was obvious they could careless about this kitten which is highly upsetting to me. Left the room and went to the pay counter to be told the total was $45. Handed over my credit card for processing which clerk proceeded to tell me that no shots were given and then about a minute later when another customer was asking a question to me, the clerk proceeded to tell me the total was actually $60. What was I supposed to do then? They are just about getting their money. Could careless about the animals and owners or concerned animal lovers who just want to do good. I will be sure to report this also to whoever else will listen. Please take my advice and don't take your animals here. I will NOT be returning ever again!
Don't bring your cat here, they will kill it – This 2nd time I have brought a cat to the clinic and I hope they haven't killed him like they did my first pet. After a 2 hour wait stressing out my pet, I was finally able to just sign in and after anther hour of wait I was able to see the vet. My cat had an abscess and while the vet shaved and cleaned the wound, the service stopped there. I was given antibiotic pills, which stresses out the animal if your able to get them to swallow it and he was given a rabies shot, which is not recommended for sick animals. I was told to apply a salve directly on my cat's eye, which is another stressful feat for both me and my cat. If they actually cared about the animal's health, they would of gave him an antibiotic injection and at least applied some salve so I could see the best possible procedure for administering it. My animal is now sicker and more stressed out than before we visited these butchers. I previously had a cat with a urinary tract infection and she died 2 days after being treated there or should I say mistreated. No antibiotic shot was given, just pills thrown at me and told to take care of it. I thought maybe my first pet was too ill to be saved, but after doing research, I have come to believe it is their total disregard for my pet's health that led to her death and may cause the death of my other pet.
BEST ANIMAL CLINIC IN TOWN – i love this clinic went today for a well puppy visit for Kayla and Roxy. The people were great we bonded with all peeps and animals. The wait was long but didnt mind. Herschel Animal Clinic Rules – When friends at work told me about this place I thought they were daft. We live in Georgia after all, and that is an hour's drive.
At their insistence, i made the trip when our cat was a baby. He is now a healthy, happy, and goofy adult, and we have been taking him there every since.
The staff is professional and quick, and the Doctor is caring and knowledgeable. Further, the price cannot be beat, and we will continue to use the clinic forever.
To heck with the hour drive.
