Inventive cuisine – Dolphin Depot is one of the few restaurants in the area that is not afraid to take risks with their food. It is not the generic fare that pervades this area. Instead, the chef has taken the time to invent new dishes. The food is not as good or unique as Amore, and it is much more expensive, but it is good none-the-less. You cant go wrong with appetizers or entrees. There is no menu, just a slate listing food items without the prices. It is annoying to have to have every item explained and the price given, but I suppose that adds to the experience for some. It is perfect for a special occasion followed by a walk on the beach.
This converted station pumps out delectable Carolina low-country cuisine in a laid-back but refined setting. – The Scene
Old photographs, vintage cast-iron cookware and wind-up toys make this converted gas station cozy and rustic. Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you: When it comes to fine cuisine, this station means business. The open kitchen, prompt and well-versed staff and extensive list of nightly specials are a testament to fine dining.
The list of 25-50 blackboard specials, all with Carolina low-country roots, is staggering. Salmon grilled on a cedar plank is moist with a hint of smokiness infusing the flaky fish. Though seafood is the specialty, the rack of lamb served with a creamy mint vinaigrette is flavorful. Wonderful steak, quail and duck dishes are also offered. End the meal on a sweet note with the popular chocolate bread pudding.
Excellent all the time – This place deserves a listing in the top 100. Great service Great food Great atmosphere, It's all Great.
You've got to be kidding: – Dolphin Depot offers no dining value what-so-ever. Overpriced (when they give you the prices) and "just ok" prepared fish dishes. People are fooled by the ambiance; rip off.
One of a kind restaurant! – From the outside, this restaurant doesn't look like much. I pasted it for years until going there for a business dinner. What a suprise! Not only did they offer the standard bill of fair, but items not found in even some of the more well known eateries. From their signature "Salmon on a plank" to "Scrimp and Grits", the presentation was wonderful as well as delicious. The open kitchen made you feel at home. Some of the chairs are rickety and the tables look like they came from "Good Will" but this let's you know that their interest is the food. Come in wearing a suit or shorts, you will feel at comfortable. Don't ecpect a paper menu, it comes on a chaulk board as things change daily.
