I've been bringing my dogs here for 1 year but after a recent event, I'm no longer taking my pets here. I adopted a stray dog 5 months ago and brought her to scenic hills for a routine check up and possibly talk about getting her spayed. The wait of our appointment was terribly long. Anyways, we get in one of those rooms, and they briefly looked at her and decided to take her to the back, which made me really upset. I don't understand why they couldn't check her out in front of me. The doctor comes back and claimed that even though she couldn't provide a positive identification of the scar, it seemed that my dog had already been spayed.
She also told me that my dog (a 7 pound pomeranian mix) was very aggressive. Then she starts lecturing me on how "I should get her some training because she's too aggressive to be around people and other dogs". I told her "She's been trained, and has never bitten or growled at anyone. You and the tech seem to be the only two people that she's scared of". I also told them that they should have looked at her while I was there, so she could feel comfortable in my presence. But apparently I'm too ignorant and she kept on lecturing me. Seriously this place is ridiculous. When I first got her I took her to a different hospital and she never acted scared or aggressive toward anyone. Obviously they must have done something to my dog if she's reacting this way!!!
Then they directed me to the front desk, and one of the female secretaries had the nerves to tell me that "I should have known that my dog had been spayed!".
Eventhough the place is cheap it's not worth being treated and talked to like shit. We're not going back.
About a week ago, I took my dog there for the first time and I was very dissapointed with the place. My appointment was early in the morning and I waited over an hour for my dog to be seen. The girls working there were very unpleasant. I don't understand why people with such a bad attitude would be allowed to work around animals. The loby was kinda nasty, dog hair and piss stains all over the floors. I actually decided to wait outside, and there was feces everywhere :(
I understand it's a vet hospital and that many animals come in, but the place shoud be properly cleaned. Overall, I do NOT recommend this hospital and I will NEVER go back. I've already decided to take my dog somewhere else.
It is pathetic to see the negativity of people and their ignorance! Great hospital with great caring workers! What other place in pensacola allows you to work out payments when you have an emergency? I know from personal experience that they put a huge emphasis on being nice ....as well as they believe their clients should be nice in return! So for the person who said they complained and was banned.. im sure you handled it inappropriately! Previous employees who say hateful things are very likely employees that were fired and have anger and ill feelings towards the business. Heartgard is very safe in (response to eliotiguana) and dogs can safely eat a whole box however if an employee gives heartgard to a person who doesnt properly give it to their dog and the dog HAS heartworms, it can be fatal... i see no contradiction there! As a pet owner who knows and understands that, you sound ignorant! GIVE PEOPLE A BREAK! Remember anyone who has anger towards a place for what ever reason are generally the people that write negative and potentially harmful reviews! GET A LIFE and quit taking your personal problems out on businesses.
worst animal hospital ever!! – Well, this hospital is the WORST place to take your animals to. I worked there for about 3 months, and it was the worst job I ever had. I love the animals, and the customers are always nice to talk to, but the people I worked with were SO RUDE and DISCOURTEOUS. They talk badly about the customers and their pets ALL THE TIME. I couldn't work there anymore. They refused to teach me anything. They told me to just clean, and not question them about anything.
They always contradict themselves. For example, they'll say that heartguard is extremely safe, and your dog could eat the the whole box. Yet again, when I tried to do my job and hand out this type of medication, they told me I could have killed the animal, and yelled at me for it.
The employees have no respect for the pets. Several times I had to give water to the animals because no one was paying attention to them. The person in charge of that was obviously not doing its job and was nowhere to be found. I was yelled at for opening the cage!!! I also noticed some of them were laughing when it's time to euthanized a poor animal! I couldn't believe it.
They'll make clients wait in the loby for hours, even the ones with appointments. Some of the people I met had very very sick pets with them, but were forced to wait anyways. They keep their medical records on flash cards, and because they loose everything, they're forced to make duplicates all the time! which result in customers waithing longer.
They'll give wrong information to customers. For example, one day this nice lady brought in a baby bird, and was told to feed it cat food. O.O WTF?!!
I was VERY dissapointed with the place. I will NEVER take my dog there EVER again. I will aslo advise anybody who love their animals to take them somewhere else. They do not care about your pets, they only worry about the money.
I had several friends tell me this was the place to take my pet. I looked up the reviews online and saw they were horrible, but took my pet anyway based on friend's referral.
This is my experience.
They nickle and dime you to death. I took my mini schnauzer in for annual shots. I was told they were very affordable, but after they added on and added on, annual shots still costed almost $200. That is outrageous! (It was less than $50 in Alabama)
They will not sell the Comfortis flea medication in a single dose, only a six months supply. ($80)
The reason I decided to write this review is, It is a Sunday morning, and my schnauzer has had diarrhea and vomiting for a couple of days. I decided I should take her in, but because it is Sunday they are going to charge double for an office visit. DOUBLE! ($60)
I wonder if they are paying their staff double? Or if it costs them double to be there on Sunday?
So, Im going to wait it out another day and carry her back to the Ark Animal Hospital in Pace first thing tomorrow morning.
THE WORST.....!!!!!! – After spending $1,000 plus and a year later on test trying to figure out what was wrong with my cat they still couldn't tell me anything so I decided to take her to a different vet and they were able to tell me that day what was wrong with her... I will never ever go back there again
My Dog Died – 12 years ago I took my dog in for routine teeth cleaning I was really concerned about his bad breath. I live in Orlando but have taken my dogs to this clinic and was the very first client when they opened the doors. I was told there was nothing wrong no teeth had to be pulled but he still had the bad breath so I took him to a clinic in Orlando 2 months I am informed that my dog had a growth in his mouth and it had been there a long time they questioned why Scenic Hills Clinic had not informed me of this and removed the growth because it was to late now for my dog, I then took him to a special clinic in Tampa a surgery that cost me $1200 and my dog died due to this growth never being caught and removed when it should have been done at Scenic Hills. Again I take another dog there for teeth cleaning you would think I ahd learned my lesson but I had been using them for years since they opened, im told no teeth had to be removed, my dog has bad breath and im really worried, I called a local Vet in Orlando they came right to my home, they pulled 6 teeth this was one week after I had been to Scenic Hills !! So did they ever clean my dogs theeth to begin with on both of my dogs ???? The are good for shots only !!
Deceptive, Cold and They Just Don't Care. – They don't know anything outside of steroids and antibiotics. Do not bring your animals here if they have any severe illnesses, they won't do a damn thing for you.
Questionable Advice... do your research first – The family animals (both species) have had great care. However, other than "routine maintenance" some advice has been questionable. On ONE occasion this advice was so questionable the DVM of times and places long gone and fondly remembered was consulted. A surgical procedure was avoided.
Do your research. One should do so with his or her own health. Our animals deserve the same interest and search for knowledge.
I still don't understand why people dislike this place. – I really don't understand why people don't like this vet. Ever since I was a kid in elementary school my parents would take all of our animals there...not a single problem ever. So, of course, as an adult, I have take all of my animals there. Still not a single problem.
Yes, the wait times are super long, but, its a HOSPITAL. And, don't you want the best for your pet? They are obviously busy giving the animals their full attention while they are in the office with them.
The staff have always been really nice to me and my animals.
Of course, it is a business and it's their job and duty to offer products they see fit, but they have never been pushy.
I think if you do a good job as a pet parent you will know and understand, for the most part what is going on with your animal, and you won't expect a miracle when you walk through their doors...
