Weird, but I like it. – Old school, reasonable prices, great for kids, good food.
I Agree With The Previous Poster – I work down the street from this place and the first few times I went it was an average experience until one day when my coworkers and I went and received sub par service from the older waitress. Their receipts don't list what was purchased, so when it came time to pay the bill it didn't make any sense. It appears they came up with some random small charges and the items we ordered were not priced as they are listed in the menu. We decided not to go there anymore, until a new coworker raved about how much he liked the food when he went with a friend after work. So on his birthday he wanted to go, and against everyone's advice (including mine) I took him there to celebrate. Seeing as he's a vegetarian, he ordered a vegetarian meal. However, while he was eating it, he commented on the texture and the taste. Due to the copious amounts of cheese it was hard to make out at first, but it ended up she had served him chicken. When he addressed the waitress about this, she blew it off saying something like "oh, it's good food and it won't hurt you, you'll be fine". Needless to say he was angry. She ruined his birthday and he threw up in the parking lot of our office later. But he did learn his lesson. The food there is a little overpriced, but can range from average to above average (not excellent). If you really must go, go when the older waitress is not working.
Nice ambience, food wasn't that great though – My 1st time in Domenico's wasn't too bad. We actually throw a party for a friend there. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. He recommended what he thought would be best for a big party, quanity and food wise. The place had a nice decor, it did give me an Italian feel. Indoor and outdoor sitting were available. Its a nice place for family gathering, dinning with a large group and it could be romantic. The food however wasn't that great. We ordered pizza's, lasagna, spaghetti and antipasto. The price was average, for 14 people the bill came out to $250 (with 18% gratuity included), there was a lot of food leftover if it makes a difference. Parking wasn't a problem.
Comically deplorable service – Our group tried Domenico's, and found the service so bad that it makes for a good story. The crotchety waitress (owner?) hassled us to hurry up on our order before my purse touched the ground, refused to answer basic questions about the dishes, and slacked on the refills. I'm assuming she was banking on the automatic 18% tip that gets added to large parties and felt she could act any way she pleased. She barked, "So are there any of you stragglers who have made up your mind yet? No? Well, I'll give you two minutes!" She called me "fish girl" every time she referred to me since I ordered the calamari. She refused to answer my friend's simple question of "What is in the tomato salad?" I left the restaurant thirsty.
The topping was when the bill came out. Our group ALWAYS ends up throwing in more money than we need to, so we were shocked to add up the stack of bills to find that we were short. As we comed through the "bill" to find out the mistake, we found it was simply a ticket tape from a 10-key. The amounts listed had no bearing to what we actually ordered. When we talked to her about it, we found that she simply counted people and automatically charged a drink per person, whether it was ordered or not. She had thrown on extra salads on the bill that no one ordered. She threw in whatever amount sounded right per dish without consulting the actual price, and all of her mistakes were in her favor. We found all these mistakes before she was one-fifth of the way down the ticket. Finally, she evaded by saying, "Oh, I'm sure you all added right. Just leave the money that you think is correct on the table."
Amazing. – I love Domenico's. My boyfriend lives in the area and mentioned to me it was a great restaurant so he took me there one day. I ordered the Chicken Picatta and it is just amazing. I love their food and the atmosphere. The people are pretty nice, but the older lady who works as a hostess is kind of rude. The last time I went there which was a few days ago I saw her yelling at one of her workers in a very unprofessional way and I was almost thinking negative but other than that the food is amazing.
At the low end of Average – The decor made me think I was in for a treat. Boy, was I wrong. We got a chopped up salad swimming in dressing, a Dominoes quality pizza and some pretty bad wings. It was a wasted night out food wise.
Pizza sucks – Typical "Domino's" type pizza...it was really nothing special. The canned mushrooms and the fact that they covered the thing in black olives really says it all. It's a fun place with all the decor, but I really can't recommend the food. It's not really Italian at all...have fun with the kids and the arcade.
Best Italian Food for miles – One of the best places for authentic Italian food. The staff is comprised of some of the friendliest people around. Enjoy watching a baseball game, basketball game, football game or simply being with family in one of the most quaint locations for miles around.
Good food and family, what more do you need?
Local Italian Favorite – Domenicos has long been the locals favorite Italian eatery, great for a nice evening out with family or friends. Moderately priced with good service and inviting atmosphere, and Italian food that truly tastes home cooked.
