The staff is excellent and professional. They treat patient's great and allow many freedoms. The food is great and nutritious. Everyone gets a lot of positive feedback and good introspection from the groups and therapists. Overall, it's been a wonderful experience for me having come from another state
The facility is a wonderful place to attend an extended treatment for addiction. the staff and other clients make the facility very welcoming to new comers into the program. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for extended treatment for addiction or mental health issues
My experience at la Amistad has been better and AMAZING with everyone. the staff is great, very patient and very compassionate. They treat you with a lot of respect and care. They make you feel at ease and the clients that are here make you feel welcomed and help you in every activity. I want to thank special staff members : Sharon, Theresa , Pedro, Kelly the nurse. They have been wonderful above and beyond. This is a place to be even though at the beginning I was scared and nervous, especially when they told me I had to be here for a month. I have felt better the second I was there and they made me feel very comfortable and I learned how to say one day at a time. Thank you to the staff and the clients, you have made a difference in my life.
The group has been awesome. The stuff has been very comforting. I would suggest this facility to people moving forward.
I came to La Amistad broken and discouraged after leaving detox for alcohol. After arriving here I came to terms with abuse that I have been in denial of for 18 years. I have had the support from EVERY staff member and all patients. I am learning to be assertive and many other coping skills to rebuild a health family life
Recommended Highly. I think anyone would benefit from the treatment provided here. I had a very insightful therapist and very knowledgeable and helpful doctors. There is no perfect place- but I would highly recommend this facility to any family member, coworker or neighbor. I know that I have benefited tremendously and have no doubt that others are getting the same level of excellent care!
My family was introduced to La Amistad after a very serious and stressful family situation. We needed help and didn't know where to turn. My brother got the help that he desperately needed. He is doing great now. It was hard but he worked thru some issues that he had and has made great improvements. If you are serious about getting treatment and improving your emotional health, La Amistad can help. I definitely recommend them.
With La Amistad's resources, I became sober three years ago. It's not a Malibu facility; it's not a magical place, either. Speaking to the negative reviews here, I don't judge the individual experiences, but La Amistad is a rehab - it's going to be full of people coming to terms with themselves and maybe not on their best behavior. And it's not going to "make you better." Only the person with the struggles can do that for themselves. It's not a smooth ride - addiction and mental health issues generally aren't, but La Amistad can help.
Stay Away! I was here for 5 weeks last year. I agree with everyone here who does not recommend this place. It was a BIG WASTE of money. I was the same going out as I was coming in. We did not have insurance and were stuck with a HUGE bill. They just assumed everyone there was rich. They sent me home with 7 meds. When I went to my pharmacy to get them I found out how expensive they were and could not afford them. I called La Amistad and told them this and they refused to help me.
They wash their hands of you the second you walk out that door!!!
I was in another treatment facility for a few days before this one. They call me like every other month to ask how I'm doing! Even after a year! Why doesn't La Amistad do this? Because THEY DON'T CARE!
I can go on and on, trust me. This place is no good!
My son was admitted to La Amistad for drug rehab and anger issues. He left La Amistad with 7 different prescriptions for psychotic drugs, anti-depressants, Seroquel, anti-seizure meds and God only knows what else. He has had severe ADHD his whole life and this problem was not even addressed.
When the therapist who recommended La Amistad to us saw the medications my son had been prescribed, he was shocked and disappointed and apologized to us. He stated that he could not understand why they ignored my son's severe ADHD.
I totally agree with Brenda W. below that the advertisement on the web site creates expectations that are not even close to reality. We too initially had very high hopes for our son's recovery and have to start all over trying to find help for him. It is very demoralizing for us.
Fortunately we had insurance, but wasted it on La Amistad. I would not send my dog there for therapy.
