Most depressing Steak

i will start this with the food.

Steak:

i ordered it medium-rare. and it came medium-well. the taste was good, least the edible parts. it had about a 4 oz chunk of fat hanging off the bottom of it and the edges were extremely burnt. i know charred steaks i enjoy them a lot. this was burnt. it is like calling a burnt piece of chicken, cajan.

Baked potato:

it was over cooked, dry and leathery. obviously not seasoned or even wrapped when baked. the butter and sour cream didn't even make it palatable.

Buckfries:

these were nothing more than yesterday's over cooked baked potato cut and fried. they were bitter and was like steak fries that were left under a heat lamp for 30 minutes to an hour.

Service:

at first everything seemed fine and once the steak came out and i told her about the steak she agreed that it was to charred for a med-rare and that it looked over cooked. she asked if i wanted a replacement. i declined since i am a cook and a restaurant owner myself i didn't want to be one of "those customers". i tried to eat the steak. i mean i really love my steak. i criticize anyone who needs A-1 or anything to eat their steak. but i couldn't do it. it was so bitter and over cooked i just couldn't do it. i only got through about 1/2 of it i ate 1/2 the potato and only one buckfry. i also only ate one spoonfull of the apple sauce, the apple sauce by the way was the kind that is sweetened with corn syrup. you can tell. not a big deal just another thing i didn't like. they asked if i wanted a remake again i declined since i now stared to feel sick. when i got my check i noticed that they didn't take anything off. i didn't expect it to be free but there wasn't even a 10% or anyhting. so i decided i'll just take the replacement and take it home. she said that she would have to ask first. when she got back she said that they wouldn't do that and will just give me 50% off instead. that would have been fine but then she had to keep talking about how everyone likes their steaks "charred". i said that is wasn't charred it was burnt and she kept saying things like "next time ask for less char" and "everyone like it this way" and "you should have asked for it XXXX way". she even started to say the steak looked perfect to her even though earlier she said it looked wrong.

i wouldn't think i would have to make a request to not distroy an otherwise fine piece of meat. i say the cooks should feel ashamed of what they did to the steak. i am a cook and i am offended anytime someone asked for a well, even a med-well steak. i wanted it Med-RARE. the steak shouldn't have even had the time to get that burnt on the outside. my parents and i were literally their first customers. they only had 3 steaks to worry about. my parents steaks were overcooked also but theirs were smaller steaks and were not quite as bad as mine. they managed to eat them. they has salads and didn't have to suffer with the buckskins. though neither actually finished their baked potato. that means something because my mom absolutely loves baked potatoes.

i would have not written this if it wasn't for the way i felt leaving. if they would have given me 1/2 off and apologize or let me have my replacement to go and just not said anything else i would have been fine. but for the server to constantly try to tell me i was wrong and to change her mind on how she viewed the steak when i first showed it to her. for the server to sarcastically go "heh" every time she walked away from my booth was what did it. when i left i felt pissed off and robbed. i only have sundays to do anything. i work about 80-90 hours a week from monday - saturday. sunday is my only time and it was wasted here. i was robbed on the only day i could try to enjoy myself. this is a feeling i don't want to have when trying to eat out. i had high hopes. when i saw the 6 pounder i was gitty. i was planning to go back next week and try it out. i am a man that can easily knock it out.
