Decent golf course for being public – Overall, this is a great course! Its well maintained,if you are a resident its reasonable and the greens are in ok shape. On weekends it can be a long day, so be prepaired for 5+ hours.
Worst golf experience ever. – We were paired with two women WAY better then us. I?m intermediate my GF is a beginner. So we are on whole number on our second stoke playing time less then 2 minutes. When the team behind us just up and passes us, which is FINE with me. However then 2 minutes later we are finishing up the first hole on the green and this guy comes by and says you were already passed by 4 peoples ?1 group? if you can?t keep up pick up your golfballs and move on. So I?m annoyed at this point but manage to keep my mouth shut. We get to hole number 2 and the people in front of us ?that passes us? were finishing up Ting off so we are waiting on them. They take off and have not even taken their second stroke yet when napoleon comes by to give us a hard time again ?keep in mind we have not t?d off yet? he gets on my girlfriends case. So I walk up to him and say I did not pay money to listen to you tell me how to spend my Sunday afternoon for 5 hours. So he goes away annoyed. So we are finishing up the 2nd hole and they send this woman by obviously it was the wrong time of the month for her and she is like oh you all are doing ok but pick up the speed. So we rush along to the 3rd hole where the team in front of us is still t?ing off and were patiently waiting our turn and the woman starts to harass us again my GF was not around but she said you are doing find but your GF is the slowest so tell her to pick it up. She finally left us alone after like the 4th hole but SUCH a bad experience. If we are paying close to 100.00 for the two of us we should be able to relax and A. not be rushed along and B. not be harassed. By whole 10 we had had enough and there were 2 other groups behind us waiting and we were waiting for 2 groups in front of us. I would highly highly highly recommend you go somewhere else HORRIBLE place.
Duffers flock to these two deceptively challenging courses that lie in the shadow of Pasadena's Rose Bowl. – In Short
Tucked away in Pasadena's verdant Arroyo Seco, Brookside is home to two Bobby Bell-designed, 18-hole public courses--the popular Koiner course and the shorter Nay course. The courses are popular with well-heeled locals, but welcome all players. The site of the 1969 Los Angeles Open, it's still a favorite among pros as well as serious amateurs who gather here for the annual Pasadena Amateur Championship.

Just turn it to a parking lot already! – Ahh, the smell of the moist AM air, the breeze to your back and the site of trash and tire marks mad me pissed. To top it off, the staff proudly made it aware that a change or refund could not be given .This place has one of the worst staffs I have ever experienced and they have the belief it seems to me that " people will keep coming no matter what". I felt my money to them was going towards payroll and not the quality of the course. The sad part for them is the fact that someone recommended to me to play here becasue I would want to have a few tournaments here for my clients. I'm happy to say I learned well before I made a commitment and hope noone returns here.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE – I will never play here again - only course that I have ever said that about. Sending out fivesomes seven minutes apart - made afternoon round more than 6 hours long (actually after 6 hours it was dark and we couldn't finish!). Most holes had anywhere from 3 - 5 groups waiting to tee off - and compounding the problem, the course was poorly maintained. Bad fairways and even worse greens! Skip this place and go somewhere else - too many good golf courses available to waste your time here. Only visit when you are parking your car here for UCLA games - best use of the space!
Great Courses – Formerly site for Los Anglese Open, USGA Public Links Championship, and annual venue for the Pasadena City Amateur Tournament (one of the largest amateur tournaments in the country) The number one course is a great test of golf, and much more difficult than first appearance. The number two course at approximately 6000 yards is also a fun couse and difficult because of small and tricky greens. One of the best "city" courses in the area.
Not worth the money – This course is only in good shape during the city championship, but other times it is crappy. Less than half the tee boxes are flat and level, the fairways are in horrible condition, all the starters don't know what they are doing and when you try to tell them something they immediately pop attitude. The only thing good about this course are the greens.
rip off – Did I really just spend $60 dollars golfing today? Not only is it expensive, but it has some of the most poorly maintained fairways and greens I have ever seen. If I'm going to spend that much on golf (ok, I'm not from LA, so I'm used to spending $20 for 18 holes), they could at least take better care of the place. Maybe they shouldn't let cars park on the fairways for games at the rose bowl.
Disapointed golfer from Brookside .. – The course was full of trash when I went to play. I understand that there USC-UCLA Football Game a day before, however, the course charged the full price green fee when we weren't able to find several balls on the fairway because of all the mess that was not cleaned after the game. None of the staff infromed us of the course condition at the stater. Bad Marketing Decision!!! Very Unsatisfied.
two of the most overrated and overused golf courses in the metro area. Some holes are just plain stupid. Griffith complex is better, but quality of these munis do not compare with others in Ventura or Orange Co.'s IMHO as an avid city golfer for 30 years.
