Small but Nice – Great place for kids. They have all sorts of programs for kids. Would loved to have come here as a kid. I just saw something that I think my brother would have loved; it's a class on drawing comic books. How fun! Small space for artwork on display. Had an interesting retrospective on the San Gabriel valley. Great place to drop by every so often. There's plenty of places to eat around there as well.
A free space where kids and adults can learn from working artists and showcase their own creations. – The Scene
The Armory's programming dates back to 1947, when the Pasadena Art Museum began bringing contemporary artists into the classroom. PAM served the community until its 1974 closing, but the mission continued with art classes held in public spaces like schools and libraries. In 1989, the former National Guard Armory on Raymond Avenue became the program's permanent home, and after two major renovations, it's now evenly split between exhibition and classroom/studio space.
With no permanent collection, the Armory's 10,000 square feet of gallery space are always available for showing cutting-edge modern and contemporary work. The space hosts the Los Angeles Printmaking Society's Annual Exhibition, offering a cross-section of the powerful, socially aware work being created within the city.
