Excessive Use of Blowers Create Problems – My apartment complex uses Valley Crest for lawn maintenance. I live in a groundfloor corner apaprtment and when Vally Crest uses the heavy-duty blowers on the walkways, they end up piling clippings and lawn debris on my doormat and the powerful blowers actually blow the lawn debris under my front door and into my foyer. My doormat is always left askew and several times the plants outside my door have been damaged. (The plants I have on my back patio have also been damaged by careless spraying of chemicals such as Round-Up.) Every time Valley Crest is here, I must go out with a broom and sweep my doormat as well as the entire concrete walkway surrounding my apartment that has been left covered with clipping and lawn debris. What has happened to using a broom which would be highly effective in this situation? I realize blowers are faster and easier to use, but the easy way is not always the best! And is it just me, or does anyone else object to the constant noise pollution caused by the unnecessary overuse of these heavy-duty blowers?? In my opinion, leaf blowers are just noisy toys for lazy boys. Many of the problems associated with caring for "manicured" lawns including constant mowing, the need to use fertilizers & pesticides and the millions of gallons of valuable water that are wasted on lawns could be solved if we would use native plants in our landscapes; and native plants provide natural beauty as well!
Terrible service, poor quality, over-billing problmes – We chose Valley Crest to do many thousands of dollars of residential landscaping. We chose them because we'd heard they'd done work for Disney. While their commercial or other divisions may be well-known, we had extensive problems with their Orlando residential branch. While this was 3 years ago, we are still suffering the affects some of problems (poor drainage, plants dying, gate problems, poor soil, etc.) I caught many over-billing "errors", found plants installed improperly, we were shorted plants we paid for, very poor supervision, many promises were broken, the job was completed many months late, etc. We had at least 2 supervisors on our job eventually fired but one of the worst ones remained. After much begging, then some threats, and countless phone calls and letters, they did eventually finish the job. The only thing that saved us in many cases was a detailed contract. However, it was a nightmare experience for me and my wife and I'd never want to repeat.
