Not so friendly staff, servers are rude and loud. My husband made reservations for our 20th wedding anniversary two weeks in advance, when we arrived at the greeters podium the female staff could not find our reservation, she ask my husband if he was sure he had made the reservation (how rude is that)! he provided her with the reservation number and still she had an attitude and continue to question him. I wanted to slap her right accross the face but she was not worth it. They made us wait about 35 minutes to be seated (mind you the place was not crowded and I could clearly see about 7 tables available). I asked her "how about those tables over there, those seem to be available" she replaid; let me ask a manager. Very incompetent, rude and nasty approach. The servers looked like they were either depressed or did not wanted to work that night. The place is too dark, laud and nothing to brag about. They ruined our night!
Best Steak dinner ever – we went on our honey moon 1/9/11, our dinner was here at Don Shula's, fantastic steak dinner, awesome service.... best steak we've ever had, steak and potatoe and mushrooms, were worth every penny..... we are definately going back next year......
Shula's winning tradition on the field continues at this classy steakhouse chain. – In Short
The chop house's elegance is indisputable, yet there is an oddly casual spirit to a place in which the menu is written on a football and set at your table on a kicking tee. Certified Angus Beef doesn't come cheap, and the sides are priced a la carte, but the nationally renowned steakhouse always finds a way to make the cut for those willing to pay for quality.
Best Steak in Town! – I've been to all the chain restaurants in Orlando and I must say that this is the best in this city! I have been to other Shula's in Florida and all I can say is WOW! I'm not if it is the "Disney Magic," but this one is head and shoulders above the others....I had the New York Strip (an indicator of a great steak house), cooked Medium rare and it was delicous. Maybe a little large for my liking, but I did manage to finish it! The sides are plentiful and served steak house style (may I recommend the twice backed potato) and the King Crab Claw appetizer was just massive....service was friendly and prompt and they even validated my parking for me and called my car around (which was a nice touch.) I was a huge fan of Morton's, but on recent visits I have not been overly impressed....Shula's is my new Orlando favorite!
For Orlando, Great...Anywhere Else, Not Really. – I recently went to Shula?s Steakhouse for a special occasion on my visit to Orlando. I work as a professional chef in Manhattan, and I am a devoted carnivore who looks for a good steak house in any city. I?ve heard so many good things abut Shula?s, but I simply cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who knows good steak.
I will praise the service and the cooks there: they are professional and try to deliver a quality experience to the guest. I cannot say that value can be found anywhere, however, since prices (especially the mark-up on wine) are outrageous for what they offer. Granted, this is supposedly a place for people on company accounts, but $45 for a bottle of Ravenswood wine I?ve seen at Publix for $15 is unreal. The meat my guest had was cooked properly, the sides were flavorful (albeit a bit dull and simplistic for the price), and the service was prompt. It?s Orlando and you won?t find the refinements that you would in ultra-fine dining restaurants, but I knew that going in. I won?t comment for what small mistakes I saw, but it?s the big mistakes and cut corners that will keep me (and probably others) from this place forever.
My biggest gripe is the quality of the steak, and that should be the ultimate focus of a STEAKhouse. My Kansas City Strip was cooked as I requested, but there were chunks of cartilage on the ends that seemed to have been ignored by a careless butcher who wanted to get the weight right above all else. Since it?s the only thing on the plate, and they don?t offer sauces, it had better be a great $38 steak. I mentioned this to the dining room captain, and he sent us a great dessert on the house, but it was a dead deal at that point.
I know nobody is perfect, but I DO know that many smaller restaurants get these things right without all the corporate money and staff. It just seems so greedy - someone was cheap on the meat because of a steady customer flow of people who don?t know good food and have money to burn.
very poor restaurant – This restaurant is not run professionally. The service is rude and slow, the food is mediocre, and when you point out the deficiencies, they don't seem to care. I swear ,the manager I spoke with seemed to be drunk. How can they allow this? Do not waste your time and money. Capital Grille is much better in terms of professionlism and guest accomodation.
not so memorable – My wife and I recently dined at Shula's, and honestly were not at all impressed. The evening started with us having to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time, Upon being seated we were greeted by a not-so enthusiastic server. The steak I ordered was ok, but my wife's was well over-cooked. The service was nothing less than poor, it took almost ten minutes for the waiter to re-fil our water glasses, and ounce they knew we were not drinking alcohol, the service was pretty much non-existent. I sent the restaurant an e-mail , and a month later still have not been contacted. I would not recommend this place to anyone
Best Steak in town – Excellent service. They know how to treat their guest. Steaks are done to perfection. The chocolate soufle is out of this world.
Overpriced-Overhyped – I don't understand how they get away with charging Prime Steak prices and DO NOT serve Prime Beef- same thing at Capital Grille which also DOES NOT serve Prime. My party of 4 dropped a bundle here last week and despite all I've heard and read, we were sorely disappointed. They spent 15 minutes at the host stand trying to sort out our reservation-still don't know what that was all about so we got off to a rough start. The prices are outrageously high given the grade of the meat- higher even than all the prime steak houses in town. The service was pleasant and memorable but for the wrong reasons. Lot's of apologies when our steaks were served-3 out of 4 were over or undercooked. So they left one on the table and took 3 back redelivering them individually over the next 15 minutes. Might have been a bad night but even so, there are several others PRIME steakhouses where you're money would be better spent.
Best Steakhouse in Orlando. – This is the best Steakhouse in Orlando period. Charley's steakhouse, Ruth Chris, and Linda's have nothing on this place. I've been to Shula's 4 times for different special occasions and I've never been disapointed. Is it expensive? Yes, but it's worth it. It's not a place I would say to go once a week unless you can afford a 100 dollar bill plus each time. The service has always been great and the steaks. They are to die for. Their salads are excellent. It's an excellent place to eat for romantic dinners for two or special events. It's classy and fun. It's not everyday you get to order off a football. Also this is not a place for kids. This is a ADULT place and is no place for kids under the age of 10. Other than that this is where all steaks I eat now are measured on.
