Cuban at best! – I can't imagine that I would actually eat Cuban food again (after a bad taste at another restaurant). But this joint's really good, not the usual fruit and sweet juices running through your rice or meat (such a turn off). The dish kept the flavor, even with the plantains on the same plate and it didn't ruin the "Mambo Chicken". The place gets busy with a short wait even in lunch time. You'll spot a few famous people there, but with respect to everybody's privacy, we're all just enjoying the good food.
Good food – This was a nice change from Versailles. The breast of chicken steak and the mambo chicken were good. The Carib-Bean salad was very yummy. Service was so-so, but considering there was only 1 waitress handling the place, it wasn't too shabby. Would definitely eat here again.
YUM!!! – The food is consistently good, is always served with a smile, and the ambience is energizing and fun. Get the appetizer plate for a taste of everything - and it's not on the menu, but the chicken fajitas are delicious. The only sad thing is that they've stopped making milkshakes at night. They really need to bring them back! Otherwise, it's a great place!
Horrible Service, Food and Experience – Towards the end of our meal the waitress asked if the food was ok. I answered, "Yes the chicken was good but the steak had an old taste to it". She immediately said "no!!" and went to the kitchen. Shortly after that a man approached our table (looked like the owner) full of anger and told us he takes pride in his meat and we should have told him about it when the food arrived. He also told us he would not charge for the steak. He immediately took our plates and went to the back to get the bill. As we were paying the bill, he grabbed our drinks from our hands and told us to leave and not to come back. We left feeling ammused and wondering what happened? Why would you ask a person how their meal was if you can't accept a negative answer?
Cozy atmosphere, great food! – If you're looking for a chill place with great Cuban fare, Mambo's is just that spot. You come in, seat yourself and are immediately greeted by the very friendly staff. This is a family owned and operated restaurant and it shows in the way everyone works together to make it an enjoyable experience. The menu offers the right amount of choices...both for meat-lovers and vegetarians. Everything is delicious, which is why I have no exact recommendations. Heck, they even make a mean tuna melt!
