Because I am woman? Attemped FRAUD by Star Chrysler Jeep – On 5/8/09 I towed my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee to this dealership because it wouldn't start. It had been suggested to me that the issue was the timing belt, which I relayed to Javier Alvarez. On 5/9 Javier called me to tell me that it was indeed the timing chain, and that while they were able to get it started, it was making a noise. The recommendation: That they take the engine apart to determine the cause of the noise, as it could be the guides for the chain. The expense just to take it apart would be $1,650, then the potential cost or repairs could be up to $5800. I told them no thank you. On Monday 5/11, I went to the dealership, paid the $97 fee, and had my car towed to AAMCO, who diagnosed the issue, for free. The problem with the truck was A BAD BATTERY. I had the battery replaced, and AAMCO adjusted a few of the belts. I drove the car off the repair lot same day, within hours of dropping it off. No noises, the truck is running perfectly. STAR CHRYSLER JEEP ATTEMPTED TO DEFRAUD ME OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I would think that a factory trained technician would be able to tell the difference between a bad battery and a timing chain issue. So, the only conclusion I can come to is that this dealership knowingly LIED to me, and attempted to perform unnecessary repairs on my truck. I find this to be unacceptable. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. While I am only one of thousands of people who get service done at this dealership, I certainly hope that I am not the only one who has avoided having them steal by performing unnecessary repairs (or at least say they did while charging people for nothing). Please pass the word on!!!!
Terrible Service – "Terrible service. I needed my tire pressure monitoring system reset with a magnet. It should take about 2 minutes. I brought in a single paragraph from the internet describing what had to be done and Dan in the service department refused to even read it, instead insisting I pay a $100 diagnostic fee. What a joke. I ultimately had to get the manager involved who started talking about nitrogen in the tires which was totally unrelated as if he thought I was stupid. I recommend you take your vehicle elsewhere, Chrysler is a failing business - DO NOT BUY."
