Have so many memories from Design place - I lived here a few years ago and visited again recently to see my friend that lives there and wow! it has changed so much! Looks so much better.
They've really cleaned the place up. my friends apartment was recently renovated and it looks great. Made me want to live there again!
I remember what i loved most was the pool. I made the most of their gym while living there too but felt they could maybe do with a few more machines.
The biggest plus of Design place has to be its location, its so close to everything! Never took me long to get anywhere which was so important to me. Not a big fan of long drives!
Lived at Design place for a year but I recently moved bc I had to relocate for my job. Not bad at all.Quite a few people from my college and job lived there and it was 5 min away from my job at the time which was in Midtown.
I managed to save up quite a bit seeing as the prices were very reasonable compared to most places in Miami and on top of that I was sharing with my room mate.
I wouldn't say the place is impeccable, but it was definitely good for the price. One of my favorite things was the volleyball court, not many places i looked at prior to moving had one. Id use that a lot especially on weekends.. I now live a few hours North and boy do I miss
My best college years were spent living at design place.. had a lot of fun and it was close to everything. I shared an apartment with my 2 best friends and what we liked was that it wasnt a typical miami apartment complex. lots of greenery.. Trees, plants, flowers everywhere. Gave a real tropical feeling and we were only 10/15 minutes from the beach which was great.
My friends were always jealous that we had such a big pool. I dont really have many complaints about d-place but i always wished there were designated parking spaces. Although there were lots of spaces I much prefer having my own designated space. I find it annoying having to constantly parking in different spots. But thats just me being picky. I recommend d-place to anyone whose looking for a low-key, inexpensive place to live
I lived at Design Place for a year, and I actually enjoyed my time there.
It was really close to everything which was great. I used to spend a lot of time on South Beach visiting friends and it only took me 10 mins to get there. And then I was only 10 mins away from Brickell for work.
I think my favorite thing was the pool, its so big and theres a tiki bar too which serves the BEST rice and beans. Oh how I miss the Miami Cuban food..
I would definitely recommend D-Place if you're looking for an affordable, pleasant place to live. If you're looking for something brand new then don't come here, but also don't be expecting to pay low prices..
Don't Rent Don't Rent......It's a trap
The model is great and the staff is great UNTIL you move in. Then the BS starts. If you’re downstairs you will hear everything from upstairs and I mean everything. Maintenance is nice but have no clue what they are doing. Once you move in management is not so nice anymore. I came home one day to find my door open when I had called in a work order plus they left a huge mess that I had to clean up. Security what a joke they were always driving around getting high all the time. I can't tell you how many times people would show up to the apt and no one called to ask if they could even get in. The guy next door had his car broken into twice.
The only apt they had available was near the garbage dump - which brought an awful smell when the windows were open - and near the guard gate where I heard the 20 somethings recounting their previous night’s exploits
Termite season is *disgusting* there are so many that in the bathroom the wings got stuck on the wall and would not come off with scrubbing. Multiple times I'd go in and the tub was filled with the things. At least I could easily wash them down the drain.
The upstairs AC started leaking and we came home to a semi flooded living room. Thankfully it didn't get to the couch, but it did soak the rug. After mix-ups, maintenance finally showed up to fix it *4* days later. They thought it wasn't that bad of a leak... I called at least 3 times for them to come out.
All I can say is anywhere is better than here.
LIVE IN A HOTEL, NOT HERE! – Any of the positive reviews here are written by people who work in the office! The staff are all liars and the owners are theives! When I visited after seeing the reviews and mentioned the negative reviews that I saw the office staff said that it was just disgruntal renters--BIG LIE! I moved in and have paid my rent and STILL HATE IT! These apartments are project life at it's fullest! No updates in appliances, hollow walls, antique wall A/C units, bugs, lizards, and dog poop EVERYWHERE! You're better off renting a hotel on Biscayne Blvd than rent here!!!!
Was nice. now ghetto – I signed my lease over a year past, and it was nice. Now its ghetto everywhere. I dont go to the pool anymore bc its crowded and i can't talk to my gf over the cafe music. I almost got bopped in the head going out my door bc some kids were tossing their ball on the bldg (?!). Another kid nearly hooked my face w the fishing pole he was working w on the grass. IF I WANT TO LIVE IN GRAND THEFT AUTO ILL MOVE ACROSS THE ROAD. Was nice. Now waiting 4 lease to run.
Stay Away from there and you'll be Happy ever after!!! – The WORST place to live. First of all. They show you a MODEL unit, they have you sign a contract, later they give you a unit full of termites, rats, roaches, and all kind of living bugs. Attention to customers is POOR, what poor! The poorest!, Maintenance is HORRIBLE, if you speak to them it takes CENTURIES to "fix" what is broken, appliances are ad OLD AS A WHEEL. (Do not approach the maintenance guy in charge, because you will be totally dissapointed!) If you have two cars, get ready to pay EXTRA parking ($25.00) no matter if you live in a two or three bedroom aptm. Read all the reviews here, many people couldn't be wrong at the same time and same place!. I lived there a year, It was HELL! and not because of neigbors, no, MANAGERS are the one ready to make you SCREAM and feel that 360 days are an eternity of punishment...
BEWARE!!!THIS PLACE IS THE WORST – Ask around about this landlords before you sign a lease. This people are shady, INCLUDING MANAGERS, SECURITY AND LANLORDS. This is the worst place to live in Miami, filty, and full of noise , crazy lots of crazy tenats, LOTS OF CRIME in this place. Looks nice from the outside, because is green, and… Read More
Avoid Avoid Avoid!!! – One year here is like one year in hell. Besides the occasional break in, and the front gate workers tendency not to show up, the apartments are old and need ALOT of repair. Despite endless "fixing" our apartment was plagued with leaks from upstairs, rodents (EW!) and all sorts of insects and creatures that get in through the many cracks the apartment refused to fix in the door ways. The apartment next door turned over 3 times while we were there (why we didn't take their cue and leave ourselves, I still don't know). The washing/drying machines are way overpriced, the jacuzzi never works, and a battle with mold is nearly guaranteed. The location is central and the price, well, you get what you pay for. My suggestion is to look for a private condo renter these days, and stay away from DPlace.
