Pleasant, affordable accommodations in the Art Deco district. – The Scene
Formerly the Park Washington Resort, this is actually a collection of four hotels: the Davis, Taft, Belaire and Kenmore. The property was built in the 1930s by Henry Hohauser and bought by Best Western in 2002. The Davis lobby is still resplendently Art Deco, with coral-and-white terrazzo floors, blue-suede curved sofas and neon lighting. The nightclubs and restaurants of South Beach are mere steps away, and the beach is three blocks away.
The complex is surrounded by a low wall and partially hidden by hedges, with a courtyard swimming pool in the middle. There are 139 rooms, all priced for budget getaways. Decor is a simple IKEA style, with light wood furnishings and neutral colors. Many accommodations come with 25-inch televisions and data ports. The main difference between the hotels is the size of the rooms, with the largest available at the Belaire. Children under 13 stay free with their parents.
Delightful – A delightful Bed and Breakfast hotel. Not too fancy but great for a little getaway. The staff was so polite. Too bad it was too cold to enjoy the pool. Maybe next time. It's conveniently located in the middle of all the beach action. Plenty of restaurants, clubs and shopping. Friendly front desk and good prices. Not as fancy as others in the area but worth the price.
