Starsky and Hutch would have hung out here, maybe the guys from "Taxi." Roaring with regulars, it's a crowd unique to the Whacker. – The Skinny
Nestled between a gas station and a funeral parlor on the outskirts of Coral Gables, this divey neighborhood bar holds inexplicable appeal for its faithful patrons. Maybe it's the cheap drinks, the shag carpet or the separate rooms for pool and darts. Maybe it's the strange collection of old books and vinyl that the patrons fondle fondly after their third beer. Whatever it is, if you have a soft spot for grittiness and a no-frills, casual kind of good time, the Bushwhacker is the place.
Expect the Unexpected
Frozen in the late 1970s, you expect this place to have the black vinyl booth, wood paneling and non-offensive-yet-distinct-inside-of-a-station-wagon kinda scent that it does. But you don't expect the free popcorn that they pop on the premises every day, or a great jukebox that runs the gamut from Tina Turner and Jimi Hendrix to the Backstreet Boys, Pearl Jam, Sinatra and James Brown.
