Superb!!!! – This is the best Bar-B-Que,Cajun,Soul Food,Louisiana Style Food Restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. This place is so good, I haven't even tried a lot of the items yet because I keep ordering the same thing I had previously. I can say without a doubt that the Baby Back Ribs are wonderful. The only place I ever had Sweet Potato Pie this good was when my Mom made it back in South Carolina. The Buttermilk Pie is to die for. The Cajun Hamburger is too good. I can go on and on. I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the goodies this place has to offer. And the owner (Kevin), is a good guy. If you are looking for great food at reasonable prices, this is the place. I don't know what those Naysayers are talking about, but I guess you can't please everybody. The real people know what's up.
horrible food – I ordered the File Gumbo, and it was nothing like any Gumbo I had ever tasted!
It was full of imitation fish that looked like noodles but turned out to be imitation fish.and red grease, the topping of red grease on top was ugly!. II have been eating gumbo all my life and this was a sham on the public!!! It must have been cooked a few days before. It came with a small bowl of rice-a-roni on the side which was just as bad. The "Garlic" toast was a large peice of sliced bread wit burnt toast butter and some sort of garlic brushed in the middle. The salad was soaked with water.
All in all it was a $35 mistake. I wouldn't recomend this place on my worst enemy!!!
Has the potential to be really good, but falls short – After reading the positive (and negative) reviews, we drove over to Les Sisters for some take-out last night. We ordered 2 orders of the regular fried chicken and also 1 order of the "spicy" fried chicken. The chicken was very juicy and I loved the crispy coating with the exception of one thing. It had ZERO flavor or seasoning! It was so bland! The spicy chicken was not only NOT spicy but it too had no flavor whatsoever. My son had a side order of mac-n-cheese, which again, was watery and had zero flavor to it. We were supposed to have bbq beans with our 2 chicken dinners but when we got home (about a 15 minute drive) we found that neither of the regular chicken dinners had the bbq beans inside. In its place was an orange wedge garnish! The corn muffin was extremely dry and you guessed it, no flavor either. We ordered 2 peach cobblers and 2 buttermilk pies for dessert. The peach cobbler was terrible (and no crunch on top like I'm used to) but the buttermilk pie was delicoius, yet TINY. I had heard the portions were huge at this place, yet my husband, son and I were so hungry when we were done eating all of the food. $40.00 not well spent. :-(
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – This small, casual eatery is where families in the Valley go for New Orleans-style soul food like gumbo, jambalaya, BBQ and po'boys.
Best Southern/Cajun Food – This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to. The food is incredible, authentic and consistent. We love the fact that it's a "hole in the wall", tiny and family owned and operated. We are always greeted with a welcoming smile, and made to feel like they're glad we're there. We've always had good service.
But it's the food that brings us back over and over. The Southern Fried Chicken is amazing. Always piping hot, crispy and juicy. I get mine with the BBQ beans and Collard Greens (take your waitresses suggestions and add the hot vinegar to the Collard Greens). My boyfriend gets the Jambalaya. He likes it hot! And whatever you do, do not leave without having Buttermilk Pie for dessert. If you've never had it, you'll never order anything but. Even if you didn't save room, take some home. It's that good. Les Sisters is a little jewel. Very casual, very affordable and very good.
Customer Service much to be desired and food was – First off, I told my husband we have got to try out this Soul Food rest in our neck of the woods. We just moved from S.O. to Northridge. I was so excited after discovering this place on the web and on City Search. I read all the reviews and felt like I was going to get the best Fried Chicken in the Universe and all of L.A. as some had previously wrote. NOT!! Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I don't know who write these reviews although there was a couple of bad ones. This place is awful. The service was bad, slow and not friendly at all. I ordered your typical traditional soul food meal, which was the Fried Chicken, collard greens, mac n'cheese, candied yams. The Chicken was very "Bland", the greens had too much Chili Powder in it, not good flavor at all and the mac n' cheese was absolutely disgusting. Very watery, stove top like and not an ounce of cheese flavor anywhere. The yams were okay and at best the preferred dish among everything else. Our waitress was somewhat rude, forgot our cornbread muffins and intervened with a "Why Not", when I told my young child that a hamburger she would not have. We're at a Soul Food Rest, order soul food, the waitress act as though she was offended. I look at my husband and then at her as if to ask are you seriously questioning what I say to my kid? Totally out of line. Oh, my husband ordered the Jambalaya soup which he did enjoy. The lemonade was okay as was the Buttermilk pie we ordered to go. The rest is much too be desired. I say, don't bother! This restaurant is far from the best, not even close! We will not go there again. Oh, one more thing, They have a B in the window, which my husband was ready to walk out on that alone, I convince him to stay b/cause I really had "High Hope" for ths establishment. I ignored the B, I ignore the rude service, I even ignored the dirty floors, a big ignore, wondered why they got a B, Clean the place up a bit!! In a nut shell, don't waste your time or money.
best fried chicken in the universe – I had nothing but a great experience going to les sisters. Its a small hole in the wall but with excellent food. I've had the ribs and the cajon fried chicken. Both were delicious and i would recommend using some of their orleans red sauce on the side to emphasize the flavor. If you live in the valley kick yourself for not going to les sister southern kitchen sooner. haha
Awesome Food and Great Service! – The food at Les Sisters is absolutely awesome!! On top of that, the service is super friendly and true to its roots of southern hospitality. There is a definite homey feel to this restaurant and the portions are HUGE. I just went there with a friend last night...and we were both just wonderfully surprised by this restaurant. We both agree hands down that they have killer fried chicken, jambalaya, and buttermilk pie. We definitely plan on coming back and look forward to trying their honey porkchops and their yam pie.
Best fried chicken in all of los angeles, without question – This is a mama papa type restaurant, with the owners on site every time I have been there. The serving staff are mostly long timers, and are nice to me. The physicality of the place leaves a lot to be desired, but you are going there to have the chicken (I hope) not to purchase furniture. I like most of the side dishes, especially the cold slaw, fries and beens. I have only eaten the ribs once - chicken every visit since the first visit. (The spicy chicken is just that, so be prepared if that is what you like - personally, I like it straight). The deserts are great, with the butter milk (chess) pie to die for. My male buddies love it just as I do, our wives are not as stong. I umderstand from my friends that the other entres are great, but I do not get there enough (too far to drive - about 20 minutes from my home) to not have the best chicken in town. Prices are quite reasonable and the soda/drinks are quite large. Go there, you will not be dissapppointed; and if you are, then you are the problem!
Great Jambalaya – I actually heard about this place in Dallas from friends who found out I was moving to the SF valley. I lived in Chatsworth 3 years and frequented this place on many occasions. Yes, it's a
small place although hole in the wall is unfitting I think. Staff was ALWAYS friendly and service was ALWAYS great. They serve a wonderful crawfish jambalaya that I almost always ordered.
The entire time I lived there , they always had a B in the window and I can only guess it was because you have to walk thru the kitchen to get to the washroom. If you love Cajun food and want an unhurried dining experience, I highly recommend this place !
