If you want bad food and service come to the castaway – What a great view but I will never go back. It took our server thirty minutes for drinks another twenty to take our order and then I went on the deck to smoke and found out he was fishing. No tip for him! Then when we ordered everything we wanted they were out of. Finally when we got to eat my salmon was blacken not grilled and our mash potatoes were ice cold. The management gave us free dessert and it was stale. I asked to speak to the chef and all he had to say is that he is too busy to watch everything! Now what kind of chef is that!

Old seafood, bad service, and horible management!! – I don't know what happened to this place but I will never go back!! I have always came in for there wonderful fresh fish but the last two times I went in the fish has not tasted right. My last time was April third and i ordered snapper and recieved grouper the server wanted to argue with me about it so a manager came to talk to me and told me I did not know what I was talking about and that I could take my business else where! I was completely upset and I am also a chef and have been cooking for almost thirty years now! Don't waste your time or money there its a rip off!!!!!

Valentine's Day Embarrasment – I don't consider myself to be a food snob by any means. I'm fairly new to Tampa and wanted to take the girlfriend out for a nice V-day dinner. The reviews scared me, but the nice view seemed to be a good selling point. How wrong I was. The place looked like a Red Lobster or Captain Dee's with white table cloths. Seriously, it was a crab shack and the supposed nice view didn't make up for the horrible service or food. The waiter NEVER got our drink order, I had to ask him. The entrees arrived before the salad. And the food was NOT good...and I like everything. I was quite embarrassed for taking my date there. The $110 bucks I dropped (no alcohol mind you) was waaay not worth it. They should've paid me to eat there! Oh and the table next to us had the same waiter and they actually walked up to him and told him how bad he was (I won't use their exact words!)

Staffing seems to be a problem – Arrived on friday at 1:30. Not busy but they say a bus just left. Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated on the patio. We could see many open tables. Service so so. Food okay. I had the grouper sandwich. Bread very dry, fish about the same. My wife had the crab salad and that was pretty good. Great view but the service and food do not live up to the view.

Great view and great resturant! – Wow! What a turn around! I came here a year ago and things where not good, glad to see the changes! Great server and food too boot! The Combo platter was great for our group. The fresh fish was fantastic and so was my wife's steak. Not a hugh wine list but still several good bottles and all by the glass. I don't go buch for the frozen drinks but my friends wife loved the Margerhita. If you haven't been in a while deffently go again!

The View is the ONLY nice thing! – I have visited this restuarant twice. The service is beyond the worst I have ever recieved but the food is shortly behind it. I have waited ten minutes to be sat and then waited another 15 for a member of the staff to get a drink order. Then I have sat and waited 45 minutes for a burger. The service here is terrible. The staff stand around talking and cursing with in ear range. The food is just as bad. This is suppose to be a seafood restaurant but there is hardly a nice seafood dinner on here. The Sunday brunch has a nice set up but he price and the food do not match. The food is bland and almost always luke warm. Also I have come to find out, the mimosas they server are non-alcoholic. The place looks run down and continues to be one of the biggest disappointments for a nice location. So if you are looking for a view and a good meal, I do not suggest going to The Castaway. If you have family you want to impress, I would not make your reservation here. Five years ago, this was a great place, today it is no place to remember!

Best of the Best! – We have been to Castaway's many times and have never been disappointed. Their Sunday Brunch is the best we have seen in years, and we have frequented resteraunts all over the world. The only comparison was in St. Thomas at the Windham Sugar Bay Resort.

Worst Service – Wanting to provide a great meal on the bay for an out-of-town friend I took her here. It was a horrible evening! It was an HOUR before seeing a server, even after mentioning this to the server working at the table next us. We ended up getting our appetizers and drinks from the bar whilst still waiting for a server. Once it was realized we hadn't been served yet, the hostess came to take our order as no one else had. After the order was placed we still continued to get our drinks from the bar - still lacking a server - and bussing our own table. Once we spoke with the manager and explained to him our unhappiness with the service of the restaurant, he shrugged, said it was "out of season" and had many inexcusable excuses, once he left our talbe he moved on to the next one. Once a server had finally come we still continued to receive horrible service. This was BY FAR the worst dining experience I have ever had. The food is excellent but it may take a while for you to receive it, if at all. If you are looking for a nice bayside restaurant in the Bay Area, I would stay away from Castaway!
