I have been with Dr. Anthony for about 6 years now and he has taken great care of my Doberman who had a few ailments. I usually use the mobile service but recently went to the office for the first time. My dog needed her annual heart worm test and I was charged only for the blood draw and not an office visit. Dr. Anthony does not do unnecessary tests and will not load up your bill. My dog had to be on antibiotics for almost a year and he told me he could sell them to me or he could write a script and get them free at Publix. Most vets would not tell you you can get a lot of medicines your pets need free, they just want to sell you expensive prescriptions. Dr. Anthony is also great with dogs and humans too! Very kind and thourough. His staff is excellent and I think much can be said for the fact that most of his staff have been with him for 8 or 9 years. I would highly recommend him.
Worst Experience Ever!!! – I had to have my dog of 15 years euthanized. It was a heartbreaking decision. I had used Florida Mobile Vet with my other animals previously, and everything was fine.
I assumed it would be the same this time -- WRONG!!! For THREE days straight I tried to pin them down on a time, so I would have proper time to transport my 115 lb. dog to the crematory, before they closed. Time was also important, as my regular vet had given me valium to give to my dog about 45 minutes before their arrival, and I had extended family members that had wanted to be there as well.
I mostly dealt with Candy on the phone from Fla. Mobile Vet. who has the personality and manners of Nurse Rached from the movie "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest." She told me, "Peter, does scheduling, and someone would call me back." That call never came. When Candy became irritated with my repeated calls, she even suggested that I just take me dog to my regular vet to be put down. WTF! I am calling a mobile vet so I do not stress my dying dog out even more!
Finally, I got a call... "We will be there in 10 minutes." No time for family members to arrive, no time for valium to kick in. It was a cluster F^(*&%! Putting the dog down was peaceful, and professionally done. Thank God for small favors.
The vet is wonderful, and I think has no idea of the wrecking balls he employs. In their favor, they will take your dog to be privately cremated. In my dog's case that would have added $400.00 to the bill. A service I was offered at 3 other crematories for under $200.00 for a PRIVATE cremation.
As I have said, I had used this vet before, with no problem. But, how they effected me and my family during our stressful time, to me was unforgivable. The only thing I was asking for was a one-to-two hour time frame. One simple phone call!
As for Candy, I suggest she find a new profession... in a career where indifference is a asset.
The Best Vet Service in Pinellas County! – Best vet I have ever been too, been with Dr Anthony for 8 years with three pets. Affordable and caring! Dr. Anthony and his staff really care...they do not put your pet through tests that they feel are not needed for the animals sake and your wallets sake, but do not hesitate to preform tests when they are ACTUALLY needed Honest, upfront, forward, caring and trustworthy. 5 stars!
