Good food, but use valet parking – The exterior of this restaurant does not scream $25+ an entree' prices. We couldn't find a parking spot, since there is no parking "lot" so we swung around and let the valet handle it. Once you get inside, it is small, quaint, romantic with white table cloths and candles. The food was good, and the service was very prompt. There was a little snafu with our order being delayed in the kitchen, but not something everyone will experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a romantic dinner for two and don't mind spending some money.
Best little seafood restaurant you never heard of – I've been to the Lobster Pot on two occasions with my wife (both times on our anniversary), and both times we've been pleasantly surprised with the experience. Most recently, we tried their black grouper served with a 3 ounce South African lobster tail. They ARE a lobster restaurant, so it figures the lobster tail stole the show - it was so tender and delectable we didn't even need the butter because it just melted in your mouth. The fresh-caught black grouper was superb also, and the waitstaff was highly attentive to our needs.
The restaurant is somewhat small and crowded, and parking IS a challenge (do yourself a favor and use the complimentary valet service - you'll find yourself tipping them well afterwards!), but for casual, yet elegant ambience, along with some of the finest seafood on the Gulf Coast at a reasonable price, the Lobster Pot is worth discovering.
The Best Ever – Have Been going to this place for more than 20 Years. Never ever been disappointed
A casual atmosphere with world class food.
Outstanding – Over the last few months I have been to most of the local area "Best" restraunts and have invariably return all or part of the meal for poor quality.
Finally, I found a dining establishment worth its salt. Yes, It is small. Yes, it is not always easy to find parking. Yes, access without a reservation is problematic. No, it is not inexpensive. However, the service is excellent, alternative parking is located not more than a block away, the food is worth the walk and the wait.
For years, the Lobster Pot was one of the few seafood restaurants on the
beach that served fresh fish. – The Scene
Inside, the restaurant is a modest warren of tiny, low-slung dining rooms, decorated with lobster traps and ropes and nets emphasizing a nautical theme. Fancy-looking, it is not: In fact, it is downright homely. Still, the atmosphere is pretty formal for the beach: The tables covered in linen, the waiters dressed in black tie, the guests dressed in jackets and semi-formal evening dresses.
The menu is huge. Every kind of seafood you could imagine is there. It took our party of travel writers some time to even decide what to order. Of course, we were yakking, too, and drinking wine, which added an element of confusion and slowed us down.
What to Order
We started with an appetizer of portobello mushroom, stuffed with crabmeat and baked--delicious. One special that night was pompano fillet in a mushroom wine sauce, which several of us ordered. We were impressed with its delicate flavor and the rich, creamy wine sauce lavished alongside it on the plate. It was accompanied by a small lobster tail, which fared less well in the kitchen--it was slightly overcooked.
Dessert involved several rich offerings, among them an excellent apple walnut upside down pie, baked with plenty of butter, fresh apples and a crunchy walnut crust. It was very good, as was the coffee served with it. Overall, the Lobster Pot's efforts result in very good, but not outstanding, food. Still, I would eat there again happily, for the service is premium, and the staff so friendly and helpful, the evening was really a pleasure.
