This bar is a great late-night drinking spot near LALIVE – We always drop by around midnight. Strong drinks, dim lighting, loud music! A favorite downtown bar of mine because you can even order a late-night bite. Great pizzas! This spot is across the street from lalive, which makes it an easy place to meet and mingle with friends before going home. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but i've always had fun here. The crowd is young 20's and 30's, and aren't ashamed to party.
I love this place! – I work one block up from this restaurant. me and my co-worker eat there for lunch about 3 times a week. i love their food. everyone there is very nice and friendly. my orders are always correct and timely. the price is awesome. i highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a delicious meal.
to the people who gave negative marks...alll i can say is that i eat at this place waaaay more then you do. i have never had a bad meal. yes, their menue is on a chalkboard, but they have many to go around for all their customers. and the menue itself is very selfexplanatory.
I HOPE THIS PLACE GOES UNDER – WARNING: OFFENSIVE SERVICE, AND FOOD THAT MAKES FAST FOOD SEEM LIKE GOURMET. The minute my husband and I walked in, we had a feeling that we should leave, but we were hungry so we took our chances - BIG MISTAKE. The entire staff was so unpolished, and I don't mean informal, which we love, I mean just plain AWFUL. They didn't care that they had new customers waiting, they got to us when they were ready to, and let us seat ourselves. They didn't even have individual menus. They had one chalkboard that they moved around from table to table, only listing the dishes by name, no description, and this is what out waiter (if you can even call him that) said, "Just tell me what you like and I'll show you what we have." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! He then described a few dishes with so little enthusiasm, that it was as if we were wasting his time. The dish we decided on was so bland, that we literally asked for more parsley, which was the GARNISH! That was the only thing we could think of that would give our dish more flavorful! And the topper of the entire experience, was when we were getting up to leave. The same waiter, who happened to be cleaning off a table near us, noticed that someone had left their food -to-go on the floor, obviously by mistake, but he got irate, and actually said loudly, "F***ing F*gg*t!" GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.
Taste the gnochi and your in heaven – So i was turned on by this place from a co worker. I went there during a lakers game with my girlfriend and it was crowded. we managed to get a table and get out 10 min before the game started.
my girlfriend had a plane penne pasta. I have the gnochi. it was really amazing. fresha and the perfect texture.
I had many different versions of this dish and since new york i dont think i had this replacated to be the best on the west coast.
we also split a salad that had gorgonzola cheese in it....
great. wine was great i think the price per glass was pretty fair for chianti. $9.00
over all service was ok for being busy.
a must go. just dont try to attampt to get there during events late. i was lucky me and my girlfriend are cute and we got a table.
GREAT AUTHENTIC ITALIAN FOOD! – i WAS ALSO IN THERE ON NEW YEARS EVE. I FOUND THE SERVICE SLOW, BUT I REALIZED THERE WAS ONLY 1 SERVER THAT NIGHT. i DID NOT MIND ME AND MY HUBBY HAD A GREAT DINNER.
LOVE THE BRUSCHETTA
AMAZING CHEESE RAVIOLI
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! – Ok for New Years Eve my family and I bought tickets to see George Lopez at the Nokia Center. We saw this cute little restaurant near by and decided it's not so crowded, let's give it a shot. Half of my family was already there waiting for us to arrive. We got seated promtly gave our drink orders and waited about 10 more minutes for my fiance to arrive. He got there and our drinks finally came. So it was time to order. I ordered a Caesar salad and requested shrimp on top. My fiance had a calzone. His calzone was delicious. My salad was extrememly small, the shrimp still had the tail on them and the salad had about a tablespoon of Caesar dressing on it. I asked our waiter for a side of dressing and another drink. I finally got my Caesar dressing when we were all getting ready to leave. Along with my drink. My sister had a scampi alfredo. It was horrible. The alfredo sauce tasted like the Progresso sauce. And her meal cost $23.00. How sad. Oh not to mention all of our second round of drinks that were ordered didn't come untill it was time for us to go. No kidding we were there for an hour and a half. It was pathetic. And for a small rum and coke....$11.00. WOW, talk about a rip off. When I told our server what a rip off they were and that the service was horrible he was rude and acted as if he really didn't care since he already charged us 15% gratuity for having a party of 10. One more thing a bottle of chardonney and not even a good bottle $45.00. I bought the same bottle at Ralph's for $12.00. I let the waiter know that and he looked at me as if I were an idiot and knew nothing about wines. Little does he know Im a bartender for the best sushi bar in the Inland Empire. Poor little man..you can't fool me. Nice try though you RIP OFF PLACE!! I don't recommend this place to anyone. I don't care how close it is to the events you're going to. It's not worth it and it'll ruin your entire night. Oh did I mention I met the owner and complained to him and he did NOTHING!
Avoid it during Events at the convention or Staples Center – The food was good, it took a while to be seated, but the wait time was reasonable. Unfortunately we had to sit with another unknown couple because they were short on tables and I think everyone in there was trying to eat and run to the Concert. But other wise the food was good, but it was a bit pricey.
Smelled like fish and rude service... – My boyfriend and I went there for dinner last night. The hostess sat us at a dirty table that had water all over the glass top - my boyfriend didn't notice and got a huge water spot on his shirt. On top of that the entire restaurant smelled like old fish - gross. When we got up to leave the waiter turned into a huge smartass. We'll never go there again.
Disappointment! – We were there on 6/23/04. Service was slow--it took about 10 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence to seat us, 20 minutes before a waitress asked us for our beverage order, and another 15 minutes before we had a chance to see the menu and place our order. We hoped that the food would be better--nope, disappointing!
I do not recommend this restaurant at all--poor customer service and food. It's a shame a restaurant is located in such a high-traffic area (LA convention center/Staples center).
