7 Gables is outstanding!! We have been following Alain for 20+ years and have NEVER had a disappointing meal, ever! Don't know where some people's taste buds are. Thank you Alain for the great food and service.
East Atlanta Best Dinner Experience – My Team and I have been coming to Conyers from Florida to compete at Horse Shows for about 11 years. We always go for dinner at this Gem of a restaurant. We go at least 3 times each show.We have tried many restaurants in the Buckhead area , midtown and Virginia Highland but our favorite remains Chef Alain and his Fabulous Seven Gables. My favorite dish is the Rack of lamb, rubbed with fresh garlic and rosemary then roasted and served with the best glazed carrots with a hint of orange ,roasted new red potatoes and french green beans at $22 for 5/6 chops(very reasonable)
My wife and our partner always have the classic whole Dover Sole,a rare find nowadays, prepared to perfection and filleted table side upon request $29.Chicken Wellington is another favorite of the group at $14. The prices are very reasonable by comparison to similar restaurants in Buckhead.Great Value with entree prices starting at $13. We are always greeted with warmth and friendliness. The owners always stop by the table for a warm welcome, the service is prompt and professional. It was about time I write my first review.
I am posting this on Facebook to share this great find with all my friends..
As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated at a lovely table by a wall of windows. Our drink orders were taken immediately (and came almost as quickly). Soon after drinks, a basket of warm rolls and mango butter arrived. (I know, mango butter sounds a little strange, but trust me, it is beyond delicious.) For an appetizer, we ordered the calamari. Very good. For entrees, my neighbor ordered the Seven Gables Chicken (a favorite of hers), while I shared the Chateaubriand Bouquetiere (for two) with the other. The béarnaise was spectacular, the meat cooked to perfection and even the vegetables were served with just the right amount of seasoning and crispness. I'm not usually one to eat every last bite, but this time....I did. And I even managed to save room for dessert after hearing about the Creme Brulee....which I also ate every bite of. I feel that we're so lucky to have such a great, independent restaurant right in Conyers, and I definitely plan on returning. I can't wait to share the Chateaubriand with my husband -- I have a feeling that Seven Gables is going to become our "special occasion" go-to place. I must mention too -- that our service the entire night was top-notch. Our server was very attentive without being overbearing. The chef even came out and spoke to us about our meals. A+! Can't wait to return!
yuukkk – Hands down thats got to be the worst dining experience I have ever had. From stale rolls to frozen raviolis to wilted salad. The wait staff was unfriendly, the decor was dark, and depressing,.and the bill was eighty dollars, spend it wisely, Because you wont see us again.Nasty Creme Brulee..
Best Food in Conyers – I had to write this review. I stumbled on some bad reviews. This is one of my favorite places to go in Atlanta. The rolls are home made (not as described in another review) served with fresh home made Mango Butter that is to die for!! All of the food is made fresh to order in the kitchen and not frozen mass produced chain restaurant food. I have memories of being in my grandmothers dining room. The deserts are wonderful. You have to save room for them.
TERRIBLE!! – I REALLY wanted to like this place.. it's close by, and we got a greate deal on it from groupon to give it a shot.
The Evening started with being escorted in to a dark, dirty bar and being asked to wait for our table (we had reservations, and the place was half full).
We were seated after 10 minutes, and sat there for 30 MINUTES before anyone brought us water / bread / wine. Then when they DID bring it the "Home made fresh bread" was stale old hamburger buns.
We got our app - Crab raviolies, It was OK, but pretty obviously a mass-made frozen thing,
The staff (Father / Daughter?) are very slow, and unfriendly. They claim to be fine dining, but you definitely get none of that, from the food OR the service.
I got the Rack of lamb (4 lamb lollypops, with zero seasoning, no crust on the outside, and a canned brown gravy. Horrid. I didnt even eat it. Luckly my wife shared hers, which was much better, The Pheasant in phyllo dough - Loved that dish.
Finished up with a slice of store-bought cheesecake that was just so-so.
Luckily we got this meal on a groupon, and only paid $20 for it. If we had paid the full price (which would have been $100 with Tip), I would have been upset.
This place is a step DOWN from chili's applbee's quality, but think that they are serving michelin star food.
I WOULD go back for the pheasant dish alone.. That really was good.. Otherwise there is no reason to go there.
1 star for the Pheasant i guess. Maybe with another killer groupon we would go give them another chance!
Fine Food in Comfortable Setting – We have been to Seven Gables many times and different days of the week. Food and service is always exceptional. Setting is relaxed. The owner was very helpful in pairing wine with our main course selections. The restaurant is small and not a chain. Comfortable and inviting. Worth a try.
Overpriced and overimportant – The food isn't always horrible. That's the best thing I can say about 7 Gables. Some dishes are good, some are bad. Sometimes, the same dish can vary wildly in quality and taste from one visit to the next. The prices are extremely high for the lower levels of quality and service. In the past (10 or more years ago), the food quality was consistently good, even if it was still pricey. The facility does have a run-down and dated appearance.
The restaurant seems to think is a Michelin 3-star in France, when really it's a random, local eatery in a semi-rural suburb.
Absolutely the best steaks and the freshest fish.Try the roast lamb. – I found this gem of a restaurant to be classic yet up to date with flair of the cuisine and the service. My family and I visited and enjoyed many dinners since 1996.Great Value considering the high grade of the beef and the fish.
Delicious!! – After reading the last review on this restaurant, I must say, I strongly disagree. I have been there on several diferent occasions, all of which pleased me greatly. My first visit was on my husband's and my anniversary, and it has a fantastic romantic ambience. I ordered the roast lamb chops, which was $30. I have traveled to Paris and London and never have I tasted lamb chops as scrumptious as the one served there. Ordered medium, the meat just fell off the bone (very tender) and had just the right garlic flavor with a hint of rosemary. It was served on top of a lovely brown sauce that complimented it well. It had no mint flavor to it, and I can not see as to how one might interpret it as being that way. My husband ordered the dover sole. It was de-boned right at our table. It's exterior had a crisp golden brown, buttery texture while the inside just steamed when I put my fork into it. What a delectable treat that was! For desert, me and my husband split a creme brulee, which was about the best thing I have ever tasted in my life. My second visit was for a friend of mine's baby shower. We were served a buffet dinner where the choices were Italian Sausage, Keylime Chicken, Tilapia, and Prime Rib. The grilled Italian Sausage was phenomenal! Although I am not a big steak eater, several of my friends stated upon how exceptional the Prime Rib was. I tried the Keylime Chicken and Tilapia both. The Keylime Chicken had a very unique taste and I have never tasted anything quite like it in my life. I presume it is my favorite dish served at the restaurant. Tilapia was outstanding as well. I have not one negative thing so say about this restaurant. It is my favorite, but with my busy schedule, I often don't have time to go as much as I would like too.
