dinner for two under $100 – At the server's recommendation my friend ordered the New York Strip and he loved it. I had the Lodge Filet which was VERY good. I would also recomment getting the caramelized mashed potatoes on the side. We had two steaks and glasses of wines all under $100!
The food was great and the service was great.
Delicious! – Stoney River easily wins my vote for best steaks. They are so juicy and flavorful I never have to use any steaksauce to liven it up. They also make these delicious little bread rolls (my fiance and I call them donuts, becuase they are a little sweet.) I could eat them all day. Wonderful side salads and fresh veggies. And according to my mother-in-law some of the best crab cakes she's ever tasted. All crab, no fillers. I would definitely recommend this place, but avoid the dinner crowd on the weekends. The wait can be literally hours and no reservations from what I can recall.
Simply the BEST!!!! – There should be a Super Bowl for steak houses!!!! Stoney River would win!!!! Hands down!!!! THe best steak house ever!! There is nothing bad I can say about this place.
Excellent cuts of meat and a comfy, lodge motif ensure smooth sailing at this suburban steakhouse. – The Scene
With plenty of stacked flagstone, leather, polished wood and hunting pictures, Stoney River looks and feels like an upscale lodge. Deep, comfortable booths surround a lounge pit with a large, inviting fireplace. On a busy night, the lounge or the expansive bar are popular destinations for the local gentry. Service is friendly and solid but suffers when there's a full house.
The obvious draw is steak, and the cuts are uniformly well prepared. New York strip is perfectly grilled and flavorful. Surf and turf features a fried lobster tail and a very tender, nicely charred filet. For starters, skip an insipid, overly chilled Caesar salad and order the crab cake instead. Plenty of fresh-tasting lump crab--and no filler--is served with a caper lemon sauce. Savory onion mashed potatoes, cinnamon-kissed mashed sweet potatoes and sauteed spinach--ordered a la carte--are worth a splurge; unimaginative cheesecake isn't.
Hands Down Best in Atlanta – Some of the best food I've ever eaten. The steaks melt in your mouth. The lobster is unbelievable (you HAVE to get the surf-n-turf to enjoy both the steak & lobster). Their swordfish is just as mouth watering.
When my wife & I went to dinner with family, my steak came out barely undercooked. Within 1 minute, the waitress apologized and took care of us, and the owner (!) came out to offer additional appologies. The steak was brought out to perfection in less than five minutes.
The manner in which we were dealt with spoke volumes. This is our first choice for a great meal and for any special occasion. The only note I should add is that Stoney River does not take reservations. Just get a drink from the bar and relax, because you will shortly have one of the best meals of your life.
Disappointing Experience – At the price of fine-dining, this Texas steakhouse with a touch of elegance (white linens, crystal water goblets) makes one think that the fineness of the steak served will parallel that of fine service and basic staff courtesy with guests. Our experience, while not awful, was far from what I would expect after paying almost $100 for two adult entrees (not including drinks). Our drinks were not filled when completely empty. Our server did his job, although did not go above and beyond by checking on how are meals were. And, upon leaving, we were not offered any salutations although there were two hostesses at the door.
You can go to any fast food restaurant and get a piece of beef that may not be as juicy or finely-prepared at Stoney River. However, fast-food workers friendliness would far surpass any indication of manners we experienced at Stoney River.
Best Service - Best Steaks in Atlanta – My favorite place to eat in Atlanta. The Service is outstanding and the Steaks are to die for. I highly recommend Stoney River for all occasions.
Stoney River takes the steak! – Stoney River is by far my favorite restaurant of all time. It has the best steaks i have tasted and at such an affordable price. My personal favorites to get are either the lodge fillet or the legendary. The steaks actually melt in your mouth. The natural taste of the steak is not lost by any means. Another outstanding feature of the restaurant is that it has such a variety of other items to choose from. Their sushi bar is outstanding, appetizers, and pretty much everything. Stoney River beats out Bones, Ruth Chris, and all the other. The others serve you, yes a good steak, but i think way over priced for what you are eating. Trust me on this, Stoney River is the way to go. Oh, and always trust a fat man on where to go eat. You can hardly go wrong with that philsophy!
SR-1 – The food at Stoney River is unmatched in Atlanta. The only drawback is there is always a long wait. If I recall they don't take reservations. Garrison's fare is just about as good.
The best in the 'burbs – Great quality steak and value. Long wait times can be frustrating but worth it!
