Absolutely Horrid – The first thing I should have noticed was that the parking lot was all but deserted on a guy's holiday, Father's Day. Unfortunately I was tired from a long trip and just wnated food, any food.
The atmosphere is very friendly and after reading the reviews here I was looking forward to having a good meal. I didn't get it. I should have run after the apetizers though I admit the fried green tomatoes were good, but if you mess those up you shold not be running a restaurant of that type. Ok on with the show. We ordered what were supposed to be potato skins but turned out to be very old potato halfs, so old in fact that the potato inside had taken on the tell tale brown color that indicates its been in the warmer too long along with being both firm and moist. There were very large portions of the potato that should have been cut off before even serving. I let the server know and declined any offers to replace it. I was looking forward to my half slab of ribs.
When the main course arrived at my table, the ribs even looked as if they had just been waiting (a little too long) for someone to eat them. First taste told the tale. Dry again as if left warming too long without moisture. Ribs don't cook out dry like this. The corn muffins were also old and I suspect reheated after being refrigerated the night before. They were old not just dry. I had my teenager with me who loves mac and cheese and he could not even finish his, tasted like it had been made with velvetta or some other cheese substitue. The only palpatable thing that we both agree on were the tomatoes and the sweet tea. Very little passable food for such a big ticket. For 45 dollars I managed to choke down three bones of ribs which should speak for itself..
Had the Health department score of 90 been posted at the entrance I believe I would have turned around immediately.
I'd drive a little farther south... – We used to eat at this OB's and the one at Tanger but now we always drive to Tanger for the service and food. The past two times we were at this OB's our waitresses had to be asked repeatedly for additional items like extra butter or more sweet tea - sadly it takes an extra 10 - 15 minutes to drive on down to Locust Grove but we always do so we can really enjoy the great food these restaurants offer.
NOT SO IMPRESSED.. – I have been going to OBs with my family for years now, and each time over the last year has gotten worse. It is an overall freindly atmosphere, but most of the waitresses there just arent worth a dime. The girls that have been there for a few years are great, but the last few times we have been in we have gotten a relatively new girl. I cant remember the girls name, but she was farely short and petite , with blondish hair, and had northernish accent....anyway she got our order and as soon as it came out she sat down with a group of gentleman at a nearby table. The food that she brought us was lukewarm, the potatoes were barely warm and hard on the inside, and our drinks were emtpy for most of the meal because she was too busy laughing with the guys at another one of her tables. We are all for socializing and have even had waitresses sit at our table with our kids which makes the meal feel "homey" , but she was just oblivious to us. The restaurant has great recipes, but the food just isnt prepared like it used to be. The place has great potential, but you never know what your experience is going to be like....and with so many other great choices in the area now, its just not worth the time or money to spend on an "ok" joint.
Great Food! Great Service! Great Value! – We were stuck in traffic trying to get home from vacation. As usual 75 was a parking lot. The boys thought they were hungry and we had seen the sign from the freeway (parking lot). It took a little effort to find the place, a sign with an arrow by the exit would be helpful. But we were seated as soon as we got there, the wait staff was super! Lots of good suggestions, free samples of some of the food. We had a little wait, but it sure was worth it. Definitely a family place good for kids or groups. We got plenty to eat, and our drink glass never had a chance to get empty. Best waitress I have had in years. The other staff who didnt even wait on us, stopped by to make sure we were doing ok. Obviously this restaurant is well like by local folks as well. They have great sauces to go with the ribs as well. We tired a variety of the choices and all were excellent. So do stop in if you have the chance!
Delicious Variety! – The catfish, steaks and fried shrimp are all great! Add some fried pickles or fried green tomatoes, plus one of the best baked potatoes south of Atlanta and you have a whole lot more than just barbeque. Great servers and atmosphere with 3 locations!
BBQ as Usual – Barbecue was delicious, service pleasant. Typical casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. Kid-friendly.
