“Reasonable cover charge, reasonably priced drinks.”
“enjoyed the food, drinks, and friendly people.”

“Filthy dirty place that smells like upchuck, a staff that seems to not care if you ever come back, poor service from the staff all around.”
“Maybe it's because I've seen sooo many shows here, or maybe it's the very friendly staff that's more than happy to pass me an ice cold PBR.”
A no-frills bar in Little 5 Points for catching a band while downing a PBR or two
Get a new lung. Too smoky - even the doorman / bouncer smokes a huge cigar! now get real, a cigar? don't you know how obnoxious a cigar is!?! there's enough cigerette smoking as it is. i love the star bar's selection of bands, the location, the disco ball - it's a great spot. just get your employees to show a little more respect to the patrons.
Gloriously Dingy Rock Club Heaven. If asked to give a definition of a rock and roll club, simply draw a map to this Little 5 den of iniquity known as The Star Bar. Loud as Hell, the room full of tattooed boozed up hipsters, motorcycle jacket-donning punks, and too-tight jean wearing musicians mingle together in harmony slurping down The Champagne of Beers and PBRs like it's going out of style. Hosting monthly sell out showcases like Pop Death Squad's aptly named "Big Trouble in Little Five Points, Star Bar packs in the patrons 'til the wee hours. And folks, if the vintage photo booth is a-rockin', you just may be invited to come 'a knockin'.
A Rockin' Joint.
Any place with that has an Elvis shrine and proudly serves PBRs is my kind of place. Throw in some kick-ass rockability and you might not want to leave.
Be prepared for a smoke-filled place with the "normal" Little 5 crowd.

Atlanta's trendiest untrendy bar bolsters Little Five Points' nightlife with loud music, stiff drinks and an unpretentious crowd..
In Short
At the Star Bar, a nice tattoo trumps a fat wallet any day. Pleasantly rowdy crowds toss back shots from paper medicine cups, keeping at least one eye on the small stage, which generally hosts buzzed-about up-and-coming indie acts. Hints of kitsch--old signs from around the South, a photo booth--reach peak levels in the Grace Vault, where votive candles flank a shrine to Elvis, complete with kneeler and all-Presley jukebox. Double doors lead downstairs to the dark, snug Little Vinyl Lounge, where old-school country bounces off red leather everything. Service is generally friendly, unless you happen to catch someone on an off night. Monday night karaoke attracts those who don't mind singing an off-key rock-and-roll song. Dancers squeeze under the disco ball on Tuesdays during DJ Romeo Cologne's funk party. Other nights, live music provides the soundtrack to unrivaled people-watching.
Cover Charge Just to Drink a Beer?. This bar kinda feels like corporate Buckhead clashing with East Atlanta. You have to pay a cover charge to get in. This means, even is you want to just grab a drink, you have to pay between 5 - 15 dollars just to get in. A lot of the time the bar seems to be packed with a scenester crowd too. The bar is small which is nice but the few times that I have seen it packed, it gets really crowded. I do like some of the small acts that go through (i.e., Dead Confederates).
cool place in 5 points.
Starbar is a pretty cool place. They serve PBR and have some pretty good live bands play there every once and awile.
Definately a rock bar for rock people.
RocknRoll Heaven - Elvis would agree.. some overly aggressive posers who think they are southern or punk like to grace this establishment, but for the most part one can have a good time. I prefer the downstairs bar... the bartenders down there seem a little less rude and annoyed. We all know Little Five Points can be selective with it's patrons, but we do what we can. Do not enter if you are Britney Spears. The music and live performances are great and check out the Elvis vault if you are a fan of the King. If you ain't a fan of the King, don't let anyone at the bar know it! Because in this bar, it is rockabilly heaven where ole swivvle hips is revered and a good shot of whisky is sure to cure any sour yankee attitude.
OK for once or twice a year.
Unique place, great music sometimes, seedy atmosphere (which is fine for this type of place). In a great neighborhood. Reasonable cover charge, reasonably priced drinks.
Filthy dirty place that smells like upchuck, a staff that seems to not care if you ever come back, poor service from the staff all around. Worth going to if a good band is scheduled, not a place I'd like to hang out on a regular basis.
Not impressed with the attitude. I know bars are not known for their friendliness but this just seems kinda silly. I called to see pricing on a show and they were just abnormaly rude.(called on an off hour) Not a great way to bring in business, plus when we checked further on pricing they told is it was more than we were told on another web site. Needless to say by that point didnt even end up going. Wish people would get overthemselves and just give service with a smile.
