Best Gyros in town – They are the best Gyros I had ever had. Geing Greek I should know Gyros, and you can't do better than Grecian Gyro.
Don't wait, run to Grecian Gyro for lunch Today!!!!
The Real Deal – O.k. the sauce is fantastically seasoned, They need to mass market the stuff. The lamb, chicken are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The potatoes are better than anyone can imagine. The salads are to die for. If you are ever near Atlanta airport take a cab ride to this hidden oasis and believe me you will want to fly back just for the food. Oh, how I wish I could find a place like this in NJ or NY. My gosh. Nirvana!!
Citysearch Editorial Review – With a massive, rusty sign boldly announcing its location (and obvious lengthy tenure), this tiny Greek grill in Hapeville has been churning out some of Atlanta’s best gyros for decades. Founder Nick Koulouris can still be found taking orders at the counter, barking directions or delivering food to packed-in tables of four. The menu boasts salads, plates and desserts, but the gyros are the reason for the line out the door. Super-fluffy pita is loaded with grilled meat (beef and lamb gyro, chicken, steak or pork), tomato, onion and Nick’s addictive Grecian sauce--a zestier version of tzatziki that’s worth pouring over most everything. On the small side with a perfect meat-to-bread ratio, these tasty torpedoes come by themselves, or as a meal with Greek fries and a fountain drink. Stop by on the way to or from Hartsfield, eat outside on the picnic tables and prepare to return sooner rather than later.
Tasty Food ; Stingy Portions ; Moderately Expensive ; Limited Menu – Only eat here if you want a pork, chicken, or beef & lamb gyro. Tzatziki (cucumber yogurt sauce) is delicious, but you can buy this in bottles and capture the best of this restaurant. I bought two dinner plates ($7.99) and the portions were meager.
The souvlaki portion was hardly larger than a deck of cards and it had absolutely no vegetables. The beef & lamb gyro plate had noticeably larger portions but I would not go beyond calling the portion moderate (as opposed to meager for the souvlaki plate).
The plate comes with a "salad" which consisted of iceberg lettuce, Greek salad dressing, a single olive, a single cucumber (the other salad had 2 slices), a single quarter/half-slice of tomato (the other salad had 3 slices), a few strands of onion, a single banana pepper, and four to five smaller than a dime sized pieces of feta cheese.
In addition to the salad was a pita cut into fourths and Greek potatoes, these are potato wedges, and aside from having sat on the grill for at least half an hour, the Tzatziki sauce that was generously poured over the potatoes redeemed them.
The variance between the two plates shows that you can get a meager serving or a moderate serving, but for $7.99 I expected a bit more for both plates. The original owner was not working and the staff seemed friendly but aloof.
They were all out of baclava, and the menu consists of beef & lamb, chicken, or pork gyros, and you can get the gyros as plates. Other than that, the menu is extremely limited to a handful of items such as cookies and other forgettable extras.
Twice a Week Eat Greek – Can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Excellent greek food, which is why it's always crowded. It's worth the wait, but don't go if you are agoraphobic or claustrophobic. Many people crammed into a tiny space trying to eat greek food sounds more frustrating that it really is, but it's not a relaxing lunch. To Go is highly recommended.
GREEK GYRO!! BEST N TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Hello 2 ALL,
I have been going to this restaurant for I know almost 20 years!! Nick is GREAT and has the Best damn food, I LOVE the sauce and the workers are wonderful, nice and the ONLY thing I would change is the size of his dining area NOT the food!!! It's the best and he has perfected that one!!
It's the BEST Greek Gyro you will find in all the East coast!!
I Thank U Nick for being loyal to great eats and service!!
Still One Of Atlanta's Best Gyro's! The Foodies Just Don't Know! – I had to take a friend to Hartsfield today, and got off at Virginia Ave. It's been at least 20 years since I've stopped in this little hole. In fact, it was when Hartsfield was off Virginia Ave. The place was packed, because this is the real deal. Just one of the best Gyro's in the metro. Foodies have not found it still. The Greek owner works behind the counter, and the gyro meat is sliced in front of you. No frills, just great pita, sauce and meat. Love it!
