ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! – MY FRIEND TOOK A STRAY CAT WHO LIVES IN OUR STREET TO THEM AND HIS BILL WAS ALMOST $900, HE CAME TO BORROW MONEY FROM ME , BECAUSE WHAT HE HAD AT THE TIME $450 HIS UTILITY BILL MONEY WHICH HE DID NOT MIND TO GIVE IT ALL TO HELP THE STRAY CAT AND BECAUSE THEY MADE HIM SIGN OBLIGATION PAPERS OF THE COST AND HE IS SO POLITE AND SHY COULDN'T SAY NO TO HELP THE CAT, I TRIED TO HELP HIM BY CALLING THE VET AND SEE IF THEY CAN LOWER THE BILL TO $450 , I SPENT OVER 20 MUNITES TALKING TO THE DOCTOR WHO WOULD NOT EVEN LISTEN TO ME! FINALY THEY ACCEPT THE $450 , NO COMPASSION, NO FEELINGS , THIER ONLY GOAL IS THE MONEY!!!! TODAY I CALLED FOR MY DOG AND THE NURSE CINDY RECONGNISE MY VOICE , SHE KEPT ME 7 MINUTES ON HOLD PRETENDING LOOKING MY DOG CHART, THEN SHE CAME BACK TO GIVE THE LECTURE OF MY LIFE ABOUT THE CAT AND THE $450, LIKE THE $450 IS LIKE ONLY $10 , IT IS $450!!! THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY , IT IS A STRAY CAT, IT WAS MY FRIEND UTILITY BILL!!!

Best in Breed! Dog and cat breed that is... – First time client last Sunday. My cat was hit by a car early in the morning and I did a Google search in the Reseda area and found Mid Valley Vet Hospital. i called and was surprised to find them open at 8am on sunday. The gal who answered, Lucy was her name, was terrific. Warm and compassionate. She said bring your pet in ASAP. NO MENTION OF MONEY WAS MADE!! Her concern was just for my pet. When I arrived she was seen pronto. A very nice and pretty vet Dr. Kim walked in right away. She performed a good physical exam and recommended some xrays and lab test to make sure my kitty was ok. After about 20 minutes she returned to tell me that Jocelyn our kitty had a broken rear leg but that a splint should fix her up and surgery wasn't indicated. They gave me a very reasonable estimate and I am happy to say that our kitty is doing fine, albeit confined to house arrest. My first time experience at this new vet was excellent. The vet and supporting staff were professional and compassionate. I highly recommend Mid Valley Vet Hospital in Van Nuys for any animal emergency for vet issues. Jocelyn and I say a big thanks guys!

Best Vet in the Valley.. Client for 3 yrs. Never a problem – As a resident of Reseda for 10 years, I have been bring my 4 cats to Mid Valley Vet Hospital in Van Nuys for over 4 years. Dr. Pitt and his staff are amazing. Dr. Kim is an excellent doctor for Sunday emergency vet visits. i have used the facility for simple exams and shots as well as pet surgery needs. They are open 7 days a week as well as late in the evening. I even found them open last Thanks Giving day when my cat had a bad case of the runs. I have never experienced anything but TOP NOTCH care and treatment. The staff even remembers me by first name when I walk in. I highly and mean HIGHLY recommend this top notch veterinary facility for anyone in the valley.

My dog had parvo disease and Mid Valley Vet saved her!! – Last week my 8 week old lab started to vomit and have bloody diarhea. I found Mid Valley Vet Hospital in Van Nuys open on sunday. I took her there to be examined. I was warmly welcomed and seen very quickly. After doing a test the vet came in and said she was very sick with parvo. My problem is that Im a student and have limited savings. A employee came in the room with an estimate that was reasonable but more than I could afford. I then told my story about being a student with very little savings to a very caring nurse named Jack. After some discussion he was very cool and got an ok to give me a huge money break. They just charged me a very fair flat fee and said the price wouldnt go up no matter how long she was sick. Im VERY HAPPY TO SAY that after 3 days she was doing much better and eating. With a warm heart I say THANK YOU Mid Valley Vet for understanding my money problemes, working with me, and healing my dog. I will be a customer for life, and my lab Penny thanks you a million.. I highly recommend this vet as they are caring and compasstionate and will work with you if you have money problems.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - REFUSED SERVICE – Today I helped rescue a dog that had been hit by a car. This Vet was the closest and we rushed the dog over for medical help. The vet refused to come out from the back office and told the receptionist that they would not look at the dog unless we left a deposit. The dog was hit by a car and the vet refused to even talk to us face to face!! They said that if they did anything they could lose their license - PLEASE!!! I took the dog to West Valley Animal Control and they lovingly took the dog. They said that it is possible that had this "Vet", and I use the term loosely, that they may have been able to save the dog. Unfortunately the dog had to be put down, no thanks to these people. I am happy that they are NOT my vet as they care more about doing nothing than doing what is right. It's painfully (mostly for the poor Shepherd who was suffering) obvious that a love of animals is not the prevailing reason for this veterinary clinic to be open.... A love of MONEY is sadly apparent. There are hundreds of vets in the valley... AVOID this one!

Mid Valley Vet Hospital was there in a pinch!! – 2 weeks ago on a Sunday, my lab got a piece of bone caught in his throat. He was drooling likely crazy, going nuts, and starting to turn purple. I called Mid Valley Vet where I have had excellent experiences in the past, and was told by a receptionist to get down here PRONTO..

Upon arrival, they rushed him into the treatment area and after signing a quick and very reasonable estimate they have my lab Rex sedated and Dr. Kim removed the bone. She also had to sew up part of his gum that was cut. Dr. Kim called me in 30 minutes to explain the situation and reassure me that Rex was doing fine. I picked him up 3 hours later and he was acting like nothing ever happened.. THANK YOU MID VALLEY VET AND ESPECIALLY DR. KIM FOR SAVING HIS LIFE!!!! You have a client for life.. I am so glad u guys were open on Sundays.

NEVER see Dr. Kim!!! – I went to Mid Valley Vet. My dog had an allergic reaction, she got bumps on her skin and had also recently taken a fall while chasing for a ball and was slightly favoring one leg.

Dr. Kim was the only vet there on the day I went. She was not friendly, but that is not my main point of complaint.

Dr. Kim took my dog in the back and came back after having taken x-rays. Meanwhile, she sent a nurse in recommending very expensive things that I didn't feel were necessarily needed such as heavy pain pills in addition to cortisone shots, a prescription for flea medicine (which can be purchased anywhere), etc. (I prefer to give my dog natural solutions rather than chemical drugs or pain pills unless absolutely needed- I didn't feel heavy pain pills were needed.)

I agreed to the long list of fees, etc even though I didn't feel they were all needed. I told myself that if the Vet recommended it, maybe it WAS needed.

Then the vet came in showing me the x-rays and told me she recommended surgery, that my dog had likely pulled a tendon and it was very common. That with my permission she would schedule the orthopedic surgeon for the following week, etc. She was pushy about this and 100% confident in her diagnosis.

When I tried to ask questions, she became rude and short with me, almost angry. I said that on an x-ray, you can't actually see tendons, only bones, right? So, was she absolutely positive my dog needed SURGERY?!! I would do it if she needed it but my dog is only 1 year old. I dont want people cutting into her body if it's not absolutely necessary.

Dr. Kim told me she wasn't positive but she was pretty sure and she again recommended surgery. (When I walked in, Dr. Kim was mid a surgery. I got the impression that she's a new grad and trying to build her surgery time/expertise and that this was clouding her judgement, making her recommend a serious procedure for an animal that did not necessarily need it.) Based on what she said, it appeared she didn't honestly know what was wrong with my dog and she was prepared to do a several thousand dollar exploratory surgery on a 1 yr. old dog.

I declined the surgery and asked for the xrays for my records. She became flippant with me and told me that she welcomed me taking the xrays to another vet. I took the xrays and left with a bad taste in my mouth vowing not to go there again.

It turns out my dog just pulled a muscle. 4 days later she was fine and sprinting through our yard with no problems whatsoever!! No pain, nothing. This when Dr. Kim was ready to schedule Orthoscopic Surgery!!!!!!!

The cortisone shot helped with the bumps and it appears the allergic reaction was due to a spray western exterminator had done in the back yard. I handled that by heavily watering down the back yard.

What could have cost $75 for x-rays and $50 for a cortisone shot cost me over $450 in vet fees! With probably another $4000 in vet fees recommended (had I opted for the surgery.)

Dr. Kim rude and haughty when I tried to ask questions to make sure I understood. She strongly urged me toward a very dangerous procedure that could have caused my dog pain for the rest of her life!

Additionally, when Dr. Kim was looking at my dog, she had an assistant hold my dog and she started flexing my dog's leg. I think she actually hurt my dog more than helped as she forced her leg in weird ways prior to taking an xray. My dog was definitely in pain and super scared after Dr. Kim was done with her.

In short, I would NOT trust Dr. Kim. I think she is a new graduate with little experience and is more interested in experimenting than actually helping the animals in her care.

MID VALLEY VETERINARY HOSPITAL REVIEW – Overall the Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital is wonderful. My parents have used them a number of years, as have my husband and I. The staff is great and helpful. Location is great, and parking doesn't seem to be an issue. Great hours as well.

Dr. Pitt is extremely knowledgeable, personable and more then accomodating to your needs and situation, especially in regards to your animal's care.

Dr. Kim, I have found that I prefer not to see her if possible. She seems most insistive in testing the animals before administering care. In a recent event we took a stray kitten in for medical attention, who had an eye infection and an infected scratch. Dr. Kim lanced the scratch, and was sent home. A few days later the kitten's condition worsened, to the point where he didn't eat or drink and was wasting away, he constantly cried when he moved. The kitten was brought back into Dr. Kim but she refused to do anything more without testing the kitten, including lancing the lump further, she also refused the request to euthanize the kitten to end his suffering. She said she didn't think it was the correct option. A couple days later the kitten was so weak he became constipated, this time the kitten was taken to Dr. Pitt and he was extremely accomodating. He lanced the lump, was able to extract some fecal matter, and got the little guy to eat. The kitten seemed to be slightly better. Unfortunately the following day the kitten passed away. Had Dr. Kim fufilled the request to put him down, he would not have had to suffer during the couple days after she saw him.

I would not recommend seeing Dr. Kim but only Dr. Pitt when seeing a vet at Mid Valley. In my personal opinion I feel Dr. Kim is not nearly 1/10 of the Doctor that Dr. Pitt is. My parents have had similar bad experiences with her and will try to only see Dr. Pitt as well.

Thank God you guys were open on Sunday!!! – Last week my crazy lab was choking on a Kong ball that was caught in her throat. She was going nuts, having trouble breathing and I could not remove it. I called my heroes at Mid Valley Vet Hospital at 8pm. They said come down NOW.. 10 mins later she was rushed into the treatment area, sedated, and the ball was removed. 1 hour later I picked her up. I was very surprised to find the bill was less than $200. Thanks to Mid Valley Vet Hospital my girl Lucy is alive and doing great, minus a small Kong. Dr. Kim and the staff at Mid Valley were terrific and saved my dogs life. Thanks a million for the great work. Highly recommend Mid Valley Vet Hospital in Van Nuys for any dog emergency.

The worst experience at a Vet!! – This was one of the worst experiences I've had a vet ever! My dog came down with severe shakes and some jaw jabbering. I took my dog in to see the vet at Mid Valley and was happy that they were open on a Sunday.

Once the vet agreed to see my dog she came in and spent the max 5 mins with my dog. She didn't check any of the vitals except for sticking a thermometer up my dog's butt. Given my dog has been raised on a organic mind-set where there has been minimal shots but on my defense my dog has been extremely healthy up until this bizarre week. So this vet took my standpoint personal and decided to not even bother giving my dog a thorough exam. She just wanted to do a blood exam, which I was willing to do but after I realized her attitude and her crappy exam I decided against it and went elsewhere, out the $40 something bucks of the mere 2 mins of conversation with the vet. Pointless. I could of called in for free.

I'm sorry but I really feel that this vet didn't do her job instead. My dog also has a bit of a rash and she completely ignored it. I was amazed that I was speechless. I guess its my fault for not opening my big mouth. Anyways.. Make sure you tell the vet exactly what you want. Or else you'll find yourself in my shoes.
