Okay sushi, fair prices – I went into Sakura for lunch because when I have sushi on the mind, nothing else will do! I was disappointed in the spicy tuna roll, but the soft shell crab roll was pretty good. You get alot for the price. That would be the only reason I would recommend this place. I prefer Sushi Zen and Wasabi over Sakura. It's worth paying a little extra to get good sushi.
Disgusting – Wanting to play it safe w/ a new resturant, I ordered a simple teriyaki meal. EVERYTHING tasted like cigrette smoke--including the rice. I stayed away for a long time, until a new group of friends wanted to go there one night. Figuring I had a bad cook/batch, I agree and this time ordered sushi. It was so disgusting I ate one piece and left the rest--and I adore sushi.
They scored a 61 on their May08 health inspection and I am not surprised one bit.
Good food at a good price – As noted in other reviews, Sakura is a little noisy and crowded ...but if you are looking for good food at a good price, this is the place to come. For $6 I got soup and a loaded plate of shrimp tempura, and left feeing very satisfied. Service was fast and friendly.
yes the place is crowded with students, but try the lunch specials, great deals, and the sushi is o.k. the food is serviced promtly and with a smile. hey, what do you want for a place that serves a sesame chicken special for lunch that you won't be able to finish for $5!
Hip Spot for SCAD Kids, caregful when you go – You better be sure to put on your white belt and black eye liner before you go here. SCAD students abound. The management is great. Ive gotten some pretty bad sushi there but Lunch seems to be the best time. Bad seats are at the back by the restrooms and kitchen, get bumped into all the time and its very noisy.
fresh.... – We were here at the beginning of October and found this place to have above average quality food. The sushi was excellent and the vegetable Udon soup was killer. The atmosphere left much to the imagination, and as the previous reviewer mentioned it does have reasonable pricing and attracts a good college crowd. Service was kind of wierd, the waitress didn't seem to have clue as to what was being served and made it clear she didn't care, but c'est la vie! Food GOOD!
Terrible! – This is the worst place to get sushi in Savannah. Cheap prices attract a big student crowd, so it's frequently packed and very noisy, and the food is just awful. Would not recommend.
