don't go with this shop! terrible – Don't go diving with this shop- terrible staff, poor customer service.

The captain and the owner of this place are rude and entitled. They conducted their dive trip as though the customers are unwelcomed guests, and spoke to customers as if they are unruly children. There was no attempt to be flexible and accommodate the customers. I will never go with them again or recommend them to anybody. In my 8 years of diving I have never seen any operation like theirs.

examples:

I have hip problems. I made the owner, whom was my dive guide, aware I'd be slower swimming- nothing drastic, just need to stop and look at stuff every 5, 10 minutes instead of straight swimming. His reply: "then you better remember where the boat is. I can't cater to you. Better yet, you should just go with the other group"

Several customers were chatting at the end of the trip, and the captain began to talk about how we can go online and write a review. She interrupted the divers, told them to be quiet: "maybe YOU think you've heard this before, but you haven't, and I can't concentrate with people buzzing around", and goes on to rattle about the 2 dollar discount they could get at the store. when finished, she says; "ok, you may talk now."

When I took off my wetsuit between dives, I was asked "why"- I had to explain i like to dry off during surface intervals. The captain's reply: "well usually we let people take wetsuits off down to their waists- but if you want to try and get back into a cold clammy wetsuit, then suit yourself and by all means!" She then proceeded to hand the wetsuit to me as I was still eating during the break to put it back on

Fellow diver was about to get a breakfast portion. Captain decides she wants to take photos of the divers and tells him to pose. He says he'd like to get a bagel first, her reply: "well ok then, suit yourself"

Don't give them any business. It's ridiculous anyone had to pay and put up with this.

Best on Maui – I have gone on four separate dive trips with SCUBA Shack over the past 3 years including a night dive. They are great, I have always had a fantastic trip. I plan on going again the next time I am in Maui. I have never had a bad experience, the crew is always helpful and provides a lot of details about their past dives. I love Toby's story about the Whale Shark, so many great stories. I suggest going out and creating your own stories with SCUBA Shack. On my last dive we dove in a pod of about 15+ dolphins, on my night dive we saw a green lion fish. If you haven't done a night dive do it, different world at night. Thank you SCUBA Shack for always making my trips complete.

bad service and bad equipment – I and my wife had a good time in Molokini. That's a wonderful place for scuba diving.

Except we were quite uncomfortable with the captain Valerie. She is pretty much of a white trash storming out her stress and mean words. the owner Charley is only a little more normal guy. Tobby the dive master doing a decent job.

Our equipment was pretty bad. old and incomplete. BC was new and came with Gekko computer system. but no boots so you end up using snorkeling fins. not even a pair. my right one was years old fin with the patterns on it looked like an old coffee mug interior.

They have a poor defog liquid. we both suffered from the fog in our masks in the second dive which was 50 min long. i had to rinse it more than 10 times while we were 40 feet down. This was Valerie's fault even though we asked her to refine that job on the boat. Her service is about $40 worthy. and we paid more than 250 together.

at the end of the trip everybody had a quiet response to Valerie's "thank you all". she kept advertising their t-shirts, kept talking about Charley's Bed and breakfast place and their website which gives you free gifts like stickers and poor stuff.

if you can look away and try to not listen to the Captain Valerie and if you dont mind using F**ked up equipment which you pay $130 per person ooow not to forget if you dont mind that poor breakfast service between the dives, i would say go for it. Molokini is nice place no matter who takes you there.

Great day trip – As the other review said, Scuba Shack caters mostly to snorkelers and new divers. But if that fits you, then this is the place to go.

They were insanely helpful prior to our visit. We called them with so many questions that after a day or two they actually knew who we were.

In rough seas, I felt pretty comfortable with Captain Valerie. She knew what she was doing as did Paul, Toby and Greg. This was a great day trip.

Scuba Shack is not diver friendly – These guys are mostly a snorkle outfit and don't cater to experienced divers at all, try Lahaina Divers for better diving
