Good food, but rude. – I from time to time order delivery. The food appears to be fresh and tasty and consistent in quality, and I like that I may order brown rice and they always have it. Delivery time is either very fast, very late. They always say that the delivery time is 40 minutes. The order taker is difficult to understand and delivery persons do not speak when addressed. I have had a number of problems with orders being correct, but Do Not Ever Complain, as the order taker will speak very clearly that they will not deliver to you again.
Good food- bad service on delivery – We ordered with them for several years. Twice, the wrong item arrived. The second time, I called to complain since I had ordered lemon chicken for my granddaughter and lo mein chicken arrived. I spoke to the regular operator and was very polite. She argued with me, never apologizing for the error. The next time we tried to order from Kung Pao, we were told they would no longer deliver to us because we had complained.
Terrible Terrible Food – In short, the food is tasteless and the owners are jerks. This is probably the worst Chinese Food I have ever had, I would rather go to Panda Express. There were food parts stuck to the utensils and the Vegetarian food... tasted like chicken. I would not trust that they really have vegetarian lard free food. The owners are rude, rude, rude!
THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE, I seriously felt robbed. I believe the vegan drumsticks were fried in the same stuff they fry the pork and chicken dumplings! Which is against the health code!
Average food and high prices – This place has really blend, average Chinise food. The only time we ever get it is when there is nothing else to eat and we need to get take out. Also, the prices are expensive. For a plate of shrimp fried rice and shrimp chow main, it's $20.
Lost a customer – Living in the neighborhood we order from them at least 2-3 times a month and the food is always good-not great, but decent. We spend an average of $50 each time and they know us there as we usually pick it up to go. We had food delivered a few days ago and they forgot a few items. No pancakes for the Moo Shoo and 2 pieces of lettuce for the lettuce cups. The last time we ordered for them we got 3 pieces of lettuce. This time when we called them to tell them, they said they would send the driver back with the pancakes, but that if we wanted more lettuce they were going to charge us. $5 for 4 pieces. OUTRAGEOUS! We explained we order from them all the time, and are loyal, repeat customers and got nothing on the other end but an argumentive insistance that if we wanted more than 2 lettuce cups to go with the ample amount of chicken filling to go with them, we would have to pay for it. Never, ever again. Aside from being rude, they made just a very bad business decision which clearly based on other reviews happens quite a bit.
MEAN, MEAN staff... Worst service EVER! – The service is HORRIBLE! I ordered for delivery, and the person who took my order took it down wrong! Once I realized that I got the wrong item, they said that they would send me the correct one. They kept telling me to pay the difference though. Why would I do that?! It was a mistake on THEIR end and they kept telling me to pay for the correct item. They also told me to return the wrong food they sent me, which was fine because I didn't order if anyway, but they were adamant that I HAD to send it back with the delivery person. After arguing on the phone for several minutes, they hung up on me, and the delivery guy came, and he kept telling us to pay up. He finally gave us our item.
The food was okay... our appetites were spoiled... and it was probably one of the worst experiences I've had on the phone for DELIVERY food... when delivery food should be simple and easy. It ended up being so complicated and I got yelled at for a mistake THEY made and they kept telling me to pay up! We didn't get our food item comped, they wanted us to pay for the remainder of it. Who does business like that?!
This restaurant needs to learn some manners, and learn the motto that the customer is always right!
Worst Service – Okay, I understand you can't expect great service from a Chinese takeout place, but THIS place has the worst service ever! I just called to place a takeout order and the lady was such a b*tch from the moment she picked up the phone. So I made my order, hung up, and then I realized that I called the wrong Kung Pao Bistro.... so I called back (maybe 2 minutes later) and I told her what had happened and asked her to cancel my --- and before I could even finish my sentence she slammed the phone down. What a b*tch!!
Did she ever consider that I could've just let them make my order, and not picked it up (considering how mean she was during the first call)? I'm seriously contemplating whether I should make a second call right now and just leave a fake order.
Vegetarians beware - ALERT – Now this place does have a lot of options for veggies. However, I don't think they pay too close attention
to the order all of the time (or care).
When my girl and I ordered veggie dumplings... a bite and a half later.. it was confirmed that in fact they did serve us chicken. I couldn't stomach the thought of attempting to eat my veggie orange chicken which I normally love. I suppose a mix up does happen from time to time..... However, there was no love from the "oh-so-Friendly" staff at Kung Pao. Nope, no super apology, no comp / discount... nothing. We requested our check and were charged in full of every item, regardless of us leaving everything on the table untouched. So, just an FYI vegetarian friends.... double, triple check before you bite. And, I will say this... some of their products (veggie orange chicken) seems so much like the real thing.... how do we even know? It'll be hard for me to ever go back.
Reliable – I have been going here for years. And though it may not be the best in town, it doesn't disappoint. Not sure why everyone here is complaining about the prices. Last time we went, for an appetizer, three main dishes, and a rice dish, it was maybe $35 with tip. Four people can't even eat at Panda Express for that price. The soups are very good and the meat is always quality. Plus they offer vegan fare (that is fairly tasty).
Sleek, modern Chinese bistro with a nod to healthy dining. – In Short
Each chain location varies in decor, but each maintains a vibrant Chinese-influenced appeal. Health-conscious diners appreciate the modern take on traditional cuisine, including unique house specialties like sweet-and-sour Twinkle Walnut Shrimp (spicy Szechuan garlic seafood) and equally hot Kung Pao Three Musketeers (garlic-infused shrimp, chicken and beef). One of the few Chinese eateries to offer soy-based meat alternatives, vegetarians craving orange-flavored chicken, Kung Pao beef, or even the signature tea-smoked duck entree are satisfied.
