Always a pleasure to do business with!
The small staff of this business allows them to get to know my dogs (and their quirks) really well. Their attention to detail on my lab/chow, and their and patience with my elderly hound dog, who hates getting her nails trimmed, is so appreciated. I can not imagine ever going anywhere else. Those chain stores have NOTHING on this local shop.
I take my two male miniature poodles (both under 10 lbs.) to Frannie's for grooming every 6 weeks or so. Since they are still puppies, they are very active and can be a handful. When I pick them up in the afternoon, they are beautifully groomed and smell great! Since I have two dogs groomed at once, Paulie always gives me a few bucks off their grooms. Robbie is their groomer and always does a nice puppy cut on them. I would certainly recommend Frannie's Grooming, especially for poodles.
Getting Ready for the Holidays – So surprised at how clean this grooming shop is! The cut we requested was right on target and our furry mixed breed looks as cute as ever. Don't know how they keep the prices so much better than the "chain shops," but they do. You can bet we'll be going back.
Excellent in all respects – I've used Pauley Taylor for the last 19 years and was delighted when she took over Frannie's Grooming. It meant I had to drive all the way across Raleigh to get my dogs groomed, but they enjoyed their grooming and I appreciate it. Frannie's is the best grooming my dogs... Shih Tzu, Poodle and Cock-a-Poo over the years... have had. The cuts are good; what I ask for; and delivered on time.
I've never had a problem, nor have my dogs. I noticed someone mentioned the locked door. Frannie's is a small business that focuses on the dogs... not having somebody at the front counter. Ring the bell, she'll show up. If it takes a minute or two, it's because she's working on a dog.
Farnnies is good people who do a good job. I highly recommend Pauley.
Nice place, good people – I met Polly through a friend who swears by her work, my friend's dogs love her and she is always willing to help. One time there was a rescue that was in bad need of a bath and trim, Pauly was awesome, she helped get this rescue ready to be adopted, and she was, to a wonderful home. Pauly is good people. She is ready and willing to help any cause that involves animals. She is always collecting for one cause or another or a rescue group; I bet right now there is a big box in the front office to put donations in, like I said good people.
Gee My Dogs Smell Terrific! – My dogs have pranced happily in and out of Frannie’s Grooming for 10 years. When I pick them up, they always smells great and looks super cute. I have one dog in particular that is very hyper and anxious. The groomers know exactly how to handle him so that he can be groomed safely. During my visits to Frannie’s over the years, I also noticed the “locked door” that someone mentioned below. On one visit, I asked the owner about it. She said that because the store front is all glass and anyone can see directly inside, they risk the chance of someone coming in and stealing supplies at the front of the store while they are at their grooming stations. So, for security reasons, they simply have guests ring a door bell, after which the guest is greeted and escorted in. I’ve never seen this as problematic. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know all the groomers and they are top-notch professionals. I wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else.
Please Read Before You Go – I have debated about posting this, but others should be warned. We took our dog to Frannie’s for a while based on a recommendation from several neighbors. In fact several dogs on our street were groomed here. Over time each owner noticed changes in their dog’s behavior immediately following a grooming. One dog would even fight not to go in the store. One by one each owner began taking their dog elsewhere. We were the last holdouts as we had noticed no changes and Polly always told us how well things went. Our last visit there was an exception. When we picked up our 12 pound terrier, Polly shook her head and said we had a “bad day today, he was not very good.” When I asked what happened, she said that our dog would not come out of the cage and they had to use “the loop” to pull him out. From her description, she was describing a dog catcher’s noose! The same thing animal control officers use on violent dogs! I asked if he got aggressive at any point and she said no. I was so stunned I just left. Our dog was a previously abused rescue and has a great personality due to years of our love and care. Once we got him home he was nervous and withdrawn from things he loved. He would not play, eat, or leave our side for days. He now cannot stand to be removed from any enclosed space and shakes violently when he is. Our current groomer places him in a plastic crate with a removable top to lift him out, which works well. She provides lots of TLC and he is excited to see her. I can only deduce that something truly terrible happened at Frannie’s and Polly telling us anything at all was because she saw he was upset. If this is what she would tell us, what would she not tell us? I find it hard to believe that 5 dogs on our street would all have similar reactions if something wrong wasn’t going on behind Frannie’s ALWAYS locked exterior door. All 5 dogs love their new groomer and have had no adverse reactions. Please please take your baby somewhere else. They deserve it. Please read other reviews out there too. We have learned that if there is ANY doubt in a place, you should go somewhere else.
Decent Job, but a bit rough with dogs and rude to people – I've used Frannie's multiple times because the location is convenient for me, the price is very reasonable, and i haven't found anyone better yet. However, the main lady here (Polly) is not friendly and frequently rude. I've seen them be a bit rough with the dogs and a few times my dog has left with a cut that was choppy and uneven as if someone really rushed. But they do a good job getting my white dog very clean. I am trying out other places but will use Frannie's as a fall-back.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND FRANNIE'S – We have just moved here from NY. We do not have a groomer here. So we stopped at Frannie's one day for a quick nail clipping. We have 2 very small dogs that are less than 15 lbs combined. First of all, Frannie or whoever the lady was, was extremely rude. We had to wait more than 5 minutes to walk in because she locks her door. She clearly saw us waiting and took her sweet time. So she lets us in and explains that she was in a hurry so the entire walk in appointment seemed rushed and as if we were bothering her. Our female dog went first. She strapped her in this sling where her legs were dangling and she was helpless. Without making her comfortable for talking to her she grabbed the first paw and cut the nail. Blood began to drip all over the floor. Now from this point on our 8lb dog is scared and hurt. Frannie continues to be aggressive and at this point yells "hold her f****** paw" At this point I about lost it. Needless to say I did not let our other dog get his nails clipped I did them myself. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LADY TO ANYONE! How she can run a business like this is beyond me. If you do decide to go with her, I would stay with your animal, although it didn't make a difference to her that we were standing right there...I can only imagine what she does to animals when their owners aren't around!
Happy Pooch/ Fair Price = Winner – Pros:
-Drop off can be between 7:30 and 9am
-Leave a cell number and pick up when they are finished or be back before 2pm
-Do NOT accept cards (cash only) and I was not told until I went back to pick up. (However, there is a Food Lion next door so you can get cash back).
I am a former customer of Pet Vogue and Petsmart and I plan on making Frannie's my regular groomer!
