We have been fans of the Outback for years, but just the other day we went to the Texas Roadhouse in Elk Grove and found out what a real steak tastes like for the same money.. 20 ounce Rib eye, bone-in and an inch plus thick....yummy! beyond wonderful.....As for the OUTBACK....lately I have never gotten a rib eye cooked the way I ordered it at 2 Outbacks we frequented lately. Always over cooked...and they keep getting thinner and thinner...and lighter and lighter...use to offer a 14 ounce rib eye, now it is 13 ounces if I can believe that to look at the steak..and about a half inch thick..shame shame...and priced at over 20 bucks to boot..remember to tell the waiter to pace your meal...or you will be getting the appetizer with your steak, or your steak before the appetizer. The waiters are on a timed service so they can turn their tables fast and get another family in your place quickly..(more then one waiter has spilled the beans on that one). They seem nervous if you lolly after eating...not a relaxed meal...and the check comes before you are done eating with a smile...funny you have to ask for refills and more bread if you can intercept your waiter as they run by...and I found it funny that a friend who is from Australia says they have no Outbacks down under...food for thought...Drive a bit to the Roadhouse in Elk Grove and be happy happy!!! My husband still raves about the soup and the drinks though..I guess something has to be good there...
Best steaks in Sacramento – I loved it! From the fun inviting atmosphere, to severs who are very atentative! The food was well prepared, with a very filling portion at a really reasonable price! The foods where very flavorful, from the croutons in the salads, to the slice of cheese cake with raspberry sauce (which seemed more like the whole cake rather than a "slice"). The drinks made from the bar where superb! Wallaby darned? more like heaven! It is like getting Ruth?s Chris food for Chili's price! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!
Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor. – In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
Don't do it! Go to Red Lobster next door! – Very disappointing. We waited 15 minutes to get waited on. We had to ask someone to find our waitress. Apparently we didn't have one, because many people waited on us all night. We got our meal before the appetizer, and our steak had to be sent back because it wasn't even cooked on this inside (we ordered a medium). Then, when I asked to speak with a manager, this joke came out and told us that "it happens to one or two tables a night, you just happened to be one of them." What a lame excuse! I wanted to talk to the manager's manager! I do not recommend this place to ANYONE, unless you are willing to drink away the stress because the bartender did alright.
Cheap Steak – I love their kookabura wings and their onion bloom as an appetizer. Their usual garden salads are amazing, with their croutons (i am in love with their croutons..its nicely seasoned). I'm a bread & butter freak, so the rye bread is nice and warm with fresh butter. I love a good ribe eye and sometimes it comes out more overcooked..when I asked for medium-rare, but eh. Good baked potato with the typical fixins. I am usually wayy to full to have dessert, but I always end up oogling at them anyways. I also have tried their salmon and alice's stuffed chicken, which are also tasty.
Abit Above Average – For one thing, Koalas ARE NOT BEARS, they are marsupials!! The food is better than average, the portions are more than adequate, the prices are abit steep, the attitudes of the wait staff needs improving, the waiting area needs to be expanded.
Can I get a refund on crap? – This place sucked. It was a long wait, bad service, poor food and way too noisy. I tried it twice just to give it another chance and this place screwed up everytime. The cooks need to go back to McDonalds and try some cooking that is at their level. Not as good as Cattlemens!! Never will be. Cattlemens Rocks!!!
P.S. Aussies never heard of the Outback Steakhouse and there are none in Australia. hmmmmm?
This place sucks – I heard good things about the resturaunt and tried it myself. It was the worse experience.
The wait was long, they messed up the orders twice, and when the orders came out, the steak was over cooked. I asked for medium rare and got crispy well done. The food also took forever to come out and it came out all in different times and by the time I got the food, I lost my appetite. I would higly NOT recommend this place to any one
Outback - YUK! – This just shows there are no good places to eat in Sacramento if Outback makes anyones list.
Money Money Money – Overcrowded, noisy and expensive. I do not need a piece of meat that badly. I do not know why people go to Outback!
