Amazing Steak – Yes folks, I do eat here at least once per week, so here is one of the best kept secrets around...wait for it, wait for it... HAPPY HOUR!

That's right, from 5 -630, Mortons offers a Bar Bites Menu with every item on the Bar Menu at only $5! Seriously, $5 for 3 amazing mini burgers, or 4 steak sandwiches for $5, or why not the mini wedges for the same price. This is the best deal in town. You can get stuffed for $5-$10.

If you have always wanted to eat at Mortons, but don't want to spend too much, go for the Happy Hour!

one out of 2 – 6 months prior, I had taken my son to Morton's for his birthday on a Tuesday night and asked for a booth against the photo wall on the left side of the dining room. And that is where we were seated. Enjoying the experience, I took my fiance to Morton's on J St. in San Diego(the same location I had taken my son previously). When making the reservations I asked for the same booth as before. When we arrived, the host looked up our reservation and took us on a meandering walk to the very depths of the dining room. I asked him why we were not being seated in the booth we had asked for and he wheeled around without a word and dashed back to the reservation desk with us scrambling behind him. We were eventually given the table I had requested. It was a Saturday night and my being a restaurant veteran, quickly surmised that a regular(big tipping, no doubt) patron had called in late for his or her table and Morton's man tried a switcheroo on us unassuming little people. Suggestion: the food and service is much better Monday thru Thursday. Go then if you can.

This one not as good this time – Morton?s is my favorite steak house. I have eaten at the ones in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Louisville, Orlando, Cincinnati and now San Diego. San Diego was by far my least favorite. I don?t mind the price and the food is normally great there which is why it is my favorite restaurant, but this time the service was below adequate and the food was not even served correctly. My wife?s salad showed up in the middle of her entree. The wait for the food was extreme and the entire evening left a lot to be desired. I will try them again because I love the food but when dinner for 2 is $300.00 with no wine I expect better and I hope the next time it will be or I will be a Ruth Chris client.

USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis. – In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.

Did not live up to expectations – As one of the 'best' Steakhouses downtown, I was a bit disappointed by Mortons. We had reservations for 2, for a Friday night at 8:30. We were told by the hostess, who was very nice, that they were clearing some tables and we could wait in the bar if we liked. We went to the bar and had a drink (which took a bit of time as the bartenders were initially busy talking, casually, with other staff and customers). We did not sit down to dinner until 9:30. At that time, the restaurant was still quite busy and tables were still being filled after we sat down. The presentation of the food and vegetables on a cart was interesting - and in my opinon did not add much to the ambiance or the delight of the restaurant - we could have done without it - as it took more time. The live lobster that 'swam' through the air via the watress' demonstration was a bit disturbing. As for dinner - my boyfriend enjoyed his steak. The $10 side of mashed potatoes were bland. I am not a steak eater and knew there would be a few good choices for my entree from the menu on the website. I was disappointed when talking to the waitress about the Salmon and Chicken (which both cost about $30). The Salmon was farmed and the Chicken was average basic chicken - not range free or grain fed. For the price, and for the 'quality' of Mortons, we expected better.

Good Prime Rib – Morton's has good Prime Rib. I like the prime rib here much better than Lawry's. It's going to be an expensive meal, but what good steak house isn't.

Rates right next to Lawrys Beverly Hills – Morton's San Diego is #1 in quality, service, presentation and atmosphere. Brent was our server and although very young he was by far the best server we have ever had. The food was prepared perfectly to order. My husband and I both ordered the Porterhouse and it was absolutely the best most flavorful steak we've ever had. At first I was disappointed because I wanted the Prime Rib but it's not served on Thursdays. It was perfectly okay though. We started off with the Oysters, then moved to the Chop Salad and Caesar which both were great. For the side dishes we order Lyonnaise Potatoes and Creamed Spinach (best creamed spinach ever). We topped off the whole meal with Cappuccino and Morton?s Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake. I can't wait to go again. It was expensive but we are still eating the left over?s so that in itself justified the cost. 3 meals for the price of one, makes sense to me.
