Scrumptious Dungeness crabs and succulent garlic noodles for days! All the crab styles are tasty, and the noodles are perfectly chewy and super satisfying... make sure to not fill up on them too early, a typical rookie mistake! I'll admit it's not the cheapest meal out there, but hey, a whole Dungeness rarely is. Price be damned, PPQ is a must-visit, at least once, during Dungeness season, which typically starts around mid November.

Good food BUT... – I went on a friend's recommendation. The promptness of seating could have been better. There were vacant tables waiting to be cleared and reset--not enough wait staff, maybe? My biggest gripe is that service was bad. We waited at least 20 minutes for the appetizer, and another 15 minutes after they cleared the appetizer before the entrees arrived. MUCH too long of a wait. The crab was excellent; I'll give them that. And I liked the garlic noodles alot, but I've had better. Sea bass with shitakes were the day's special. Good but not spectacular. Oh. And the bathroom was nasty! No clean paper towels, empty soap dispensers, and discarded paper towels on the floor. Overall, go for the food, which is good but not earth shattering. If the staff paid closer attention to the niceties, they could probably justity the moderately expensive prices a little better.

Loved it! – I'm always on the hunt for a good Vietnamese restaurant. I love the flavors of Crustacean, but the garlic noodles are just a little too greasy for me. We stumbled into PPQ a couple of months ago- we were starved, wanted Vietnamese food and happened to drive right past this (and I rememberd reading good things about it). I loved it- fresh flavors without the grease, the way Vietnamese food should be made. The wine list leaves much to be desired, but hey, the food more than makes up for it!

Great Customer Service – I've heard about this restaurant for awhile now. So this past weekend I thought I would check it out. I went with 6 other friends and we each ordered 1 roasted crab each! 7 crabs total! It was just as good as I thought it would be. The garlic noodles are so much better here than at Crustacean's! Our waiter was really attentive as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves garlic roasted crab.

Great Crab and service – I've been coming here for a few years and am finally writing about it. I really love the crab here and the service is great. Try the fish mau soup. It's unique and really tasty.

Excellent Crab! – Our first time at PPQ's was delicious! We were seated upstairs for a birthday celebration and we ordered crab, garlic noodles, string beans and wine. The roasted crab was absolutely tasty! The garlic noodles are just a tad dry, but still very addictive. We would definitely go again. Parking can be quite difficult, but if you circle around few times, you're sure to find a space. If you want to just feast on crabs, I suggest ordering the a la carte instead of the set menus.

Real Review - unlike the 1st one found here – I am soooooooooooo tired of restaurants posting their own reviews of places. Check out the user name of the reviewer who said this place is soooooooooo good (as if you could't figure it out but the slanted review). This place has decent and fresh crab but the rest is just an oil fest - amazing you can cover something (garlic noodles) with tons of oil and people get "addicted" to it. Anyhow, this place is fine as far as food but not worth the money - it is not cheap by any means.

Fabulous crab and addictive garlic noodles make the trip to this Outer Richmond Vietnamese favorite entirely worthwhile. – The Scene
Families, couples and friends pack in at close-set tables under faux palm trees and a big mural of a tropical Vietnamese bay. There's no music to distract from the incredible meal, and the lights are bright--the better to see it by. The kitchen can be slow, which is deliciously excruciating as those around you dig in.

The Food

Almost everyone in the room wears anomalous plastic "I Love Ribs" bibs while dismantling crustaceans with varying degrees of grace. For the full experience, order the special dinner for two (or more). The prelude is above-par imperial rolls and a dynamite chicken-cabbage salad freshened with mint leaves. Then it's bib time: Whole roasted crab is speckled with garlic from its messy, delicious broth into which diners can dip the sweet, moist meat. Accompanying house garlic noodles look deceptively plain, but possess an uncommon subtlety and deliciousness.

S0O0O0O0O G0OD! – PPQ Dungeness Island has the best Vietnamese food I've ever had! I've been to many different Vietnamese restaurants and I just have to say that this was the BEST I've had. The Roasted Crab and garlic noodles were delicious! You should also try PPQ Dungeness Island's "older sibling" PPQ Vietnamese Cuisine on Irving street! Best pho ever!!

SFHulaGal – For my birthday last week, I had the peppercorn crab for two meal - the crab was roasted just right in a bed of toasted garlic that was so crisp we kept sprinkling it into our noodles. The spring rolls were non-greasy and light. The salad was a the proper balance from all the garlic we were eating. In all, we were leaving that restaurant on a food euphoria. Also, our servers were attentive & courteous. Just having them tie a bib made it half the fun. Crustean's is fine but who are we kidding, to really enjoy a crab meal, you really have to get a lil' messy & dig in to get to the best parts. This is the place to be to eat your crab, you dive into it w/ a plastic bib & NOT a linen napkin.
