I will give them another chance! – I went yesterday to Cafe Ambrosia for Brunch, because they advertised a good brunch that includes cheap good food and cheap mimosas too. When I got there with my friend, I was approched by a nice good- looking Spanish waiter who told us that we could seat anywhere we would like. We sat close to a little fountain in the outdoors patio that they have. The busser came and gave us our menus very fast; but it took almost 15 minutes for the server to show up. He introduced his name as "Omar", very nice smile and very friendly; but with a very poor knowledge of how to serve tables. Our drinks kept getting empty all the time; and the place wasn't that busy in order to fullfill that little detail, not to mention others. After a while, he came back and asked us if we were ready; and I had a few questions that he couln't answer at all. In my personal experience eating out, I think that a server should know everything about the menu. He excused himself saying that he was new; but still is not acceptable. Finally we got our food, and it was descent; but I odered an omellet that comes with toast; and I got my toast when I was almost done with it. He again apologize; but I didn't find it proffesional. Finally when I wanted to pay; it took a while for him to come to us; so I approched the latino waiter that it seemed to me he was on top of all the tables, if he could take my check because we needed to leave. He said of course; he went inside and got us our change. We finally left; and the same latino waiter came to us and said: Thanks for everything; You have a nice day! In conclusion I suggest to the owner that you shoud pay attention to your wait' staff; because for silly mistakes like this, you can loose a lot of customers. I may go back; but I would like to have the Spanish guy who got us in the first time. Thanks
great atmosphere, and very gay friendly – The atmosphere was great. A group of friends went over the weekend for brunch. Our tastes vary greatly. My GF is a vegetarian, and they have a huge selection for vegans and veges. Our food was great, their burgers are huge, (be hungry). The all you can drink champagne for $12 was a killer deal. Our server was a doll, although unfortunately straight ; ) she was very attentive. We spent a couple of hours there and the champagne never stopped. This is a very quaint place, and down to earth.
I definately recommend it.
Good atmosphere and vegan choices! – I went here on Saturday night with two friends and we really enjoyed it! Our server was very nice and low-key, we did not feel rushed, and he thoroughly answered our questions. We ate in the patio courtyard which was very pretty with little lights and greenery, and it wasn't too cold because it's walled in and has a fire burning in a pit in the middle of the courtyard. The ambiance was great for us, probably because there weren't too many people there and the music playing was pretty soft - you didn't have to shout to be heard.
The vegan menu was really good - a whole page in what seemed to me to be a pretty extensive menu, and they have a mimosa special no matter what time you are there, for which you buy one mimosa at regular price (about $6.50) and get all the rest for half-off, yay! My friends really enjoyed their food too (seafood pasta and another meat entree) and the portions are generous.
I guess the only bad part was that the manager kind of yelled at an employee in the middle of the restaurant, something about money, which seemed like a back-room conversation... but otherwise, it was great and I will definitely go back when in the area!
Beware, you'll get sick!!!! – A friend of mine invited me and 6 other guests to dine at the Ambrosia Cafe. The food was okay, the service was mediocre. The worst part was the day after when 5 of the people who dined there, including me, got really really sick!!!!! DO NOT EAT here unless you want to be really really sick for two days afterwards. We think we either got sick from their chicken or their lettuce since that was the common food item that all of us had.
Cute little neighborhood restaurant – I had dinner here, and I was really surprised by the atmosphere....courtyard and garden area with fountain, fireplace and lot of little lights. It was very charming. The perfect place for a low-budget, high-romance first date.
The food was OK. There are so many great Mediterranean food restaurants in the area. And this Greek restaurant falls a little short. I just wasnt impressed the vegetarian platter or flaming cheese. My fellow companions had similar opinions; the food was simply alright.
