Best Colorist!! – I was shopping for a new colorist and my friend recommended Emily Thomas at Steam. I couldn't have been more thrilled with the way my hair came out. I love it and so many people compliment me on how natural the color looks.
Emily Thomas is the best hair colorist in L.A. – If you want to have your hair colored by a woman who knows her stuff, go see Emily at Steam. She is a bi-costal hair colorist who works in both New York and Los Angeles. I have tried to find a colorist who was both creative AND could give me the natural, fun, yet stylish look I have wanted for years. After going to Emily, I ended up with the color I have been searching for! She is amazing--she knows exactly how hair will react to color and spends a lot of time consulting with you before you get your first color from her--I felt like she was a mind-reader. Very professional and nice as well. Every penny spent on my hair has been worth it. As long as I am in L.A., I will NOT let anyone else color my hair.
Steam makes you feel like home....with great hair! – I have been coming to Steam to get my hair cut by Carla since their doors opened. Over the years I have had many friends follow me to the salon and look more and more beautiful. I have had my hair colored, gotten conditioning treatments and have loved the whole Steam experience. The vibe in the salon is like a family.it makes you feel at home. k
BEST CUT & COLOR IN LOS ANGELES – Since I have been going to STEAM, people stop me on the street and ask me which salon I go to. In fact I discovered STEAM the same way. I saw a girl with a fantastic haircut and asked her who did it. Valerie Stoneking is my stylist. I keep her cards in my purse and hand them out to strangers when they ask about my hair. I am an L.A. native and have never been to a better salon. STEAM is also very down to earth, I have never experienced any attitude.
I moved to Seattle last year and tried to find a new stylist. After several mediocre cuts/colors, I have now resorted to fly back to L.A. when I need my hair cut/colored; that is how good they are. I have had my hair colored by several colorists at STEAM and they have always done an outstanding job.
My hair was fried too!! – Oh my gosh! When I read the previous reviews about their hair being burnt off, I just had to write a review. Same thing happened to me and I did call the colorist AND THE OWNER TOO- Both of them seemed not to care and did not offer me anything!! They are lying when they say to speak with owner...and they'll be helpful. Phoooey!!!
If you had a bad experience at Steam we do apologize. We stand behind our work and do what ever it takes to make our clients happy. If you feel you weren't treated properly then I would like to speak to you about your situation. You can call me anytime at the salon to discuss this, Carla (owner)
Playdough scissors would have done better – Steam ruined my hair by overprocessing it. I read other people's reviews and had to write a review. Steam gave me the worst color I've ever had in my 42 years of life and then had the nerve to still charge me and offered no resolution for destroying my hair. I had an audition that I missed becuase of their incompetence. Steam is a joke, and a very bad one.
This response is to Carla--Carla honey, I did call you and YOU were so ambivilent. You non chalantely said that I could come for a conditioning treatment, and when I asked at whose expense you then said that "it proabably wouldn't help anyway". It's bad enough you fried my hair, but now act as if I am lyiing. You shouldn't wait until you start getting bad reviews to offer customer service. Shame on you. You've got some bad karma coming at ya.
At Steam we stand behind our work. If you were not satisfied with your service, then you should call the owner. She will have you come back into the salon to see the damage that has occured. If there was any damage, we will then do whatever it takes to restore your hair to a healthy condition.
Thank You, Steam Management
Bad Karma – The owner of Steam is horrible to her employees. I will no longer give her my business.
great for curly hair girls! – i love steam! i have naturally curly hair and it's incredibly hard to find a stylist who knows how to cut it right. well, i found my stylist at steam! its seriously the best hair cut i ever had. its a bit expensive ($75 for just the cut), but it's worth every penny. my hair continues to look fabulous! plus, it's a great venue. the atomsphere is comfortable and the customer service is great.
User review by pavaozinha – This is hands down the best salon in LA...style and quality....Tats & Fernando for color and Valerie & Carla for cut...regardless the whole crew it great!
Best haircut I ever had! – I have lived in LA for 4 years and had not found a hair stylist that I really liked, until I went to Steam last month. I made an appointment with Val (I heard from a friend that Val was the best in town). I wanted a new look. Something totally different than I have had in the past. Val explained to me what would look best on me. She explained everything she was going to do and I felt really comfortable and trusted her to do her magic. I now feel more up-to-date and stylish. Val was amazing. The salon was very comfortable and they made me feel welcome. It is beautiful inside. I will go back to Val again and tell all my friends to go see Val at Steam!
