Great Place for drinks.. not so much the food – A friend of mine introduced me to this place. It was pretty nice on the outside.. looks like a great local hangout for drinking and having fun... I went in for Dinner and had the Wet Burrito. What a letdown. It was a hearty portion size with shredded chicken with very light seasoning and beans and rice inside. There was aboslutely no flavor to the item. None. I'm sure the steak probably would've been better but this was just so bad i'm actually writing a review. Don't get me wrong their Taco's are awesome.... thats why I guess it's TACO Surf for a reason.. All i'd ask is that the Chef really evaluate the menu and find some way to "spice" the food up. Chips and Salsa were plentiful and well done but omg this wet red burrito... it was like this mashed slop rolled inside a burrito and made to look pretty. I'm getting Taco's only next time.

Our favorite shrimp tacos and margaritas – We've been going to the Dana Point Taco Surf for years. We're always welcomed with a smile. The pre-made house margaritas are good, but Bethany's scratch Cazadores margaritas as the best in south county. We're thrilled that they added shrimp tacos a couple of years ago, and these quickly became our favorites. Also try the "Grilled Fish Tacos - Baja Style" - not on the menu, but we sometimes want grilled fish instead of fried, and want the cabbage and baja sauce. Wonderful. Brandy's Salad is another menu stand out if you don't want the usuals. The burittos are big enough for two meals - try the shredded beef or the shrimp - and are really good the next day, too.

We prefer to sit closer to the front door on nights with live music, because it makes conversation easier. That said, the live performers are always first rate. I really enjoyed the guitar player that teased a young girl, asking if she wanted to hear a Brittany Spears song, and jumping into a halting rendition of "Oops, I Did it Again", later explaining this was a Louis Armstrong song from the 30's. Very cool.

Our favorite place to sit, though is the outside stools of the bar, but these are only open in the summer (leave them open longer, George, and turn on the heater!)

The owners truely want to know if there is the slightest issue with your order. They are passionate about ensuring a quality experience, and will bend over backwards to make sure you are satisfied and well fed. We were there last night and will be back next week!

best shrimp tacos anywhere in so cal. – this place can get crazy busy on tuesday nights but thats half the fun. Casual setting and very good service helps keep the place hopping weekends. The food is baja style mexican with large plates covered with too much food to finish.

I would not recommend going to this specific location, my experience was horrible. First off, the women who introduced herself as the "owner's wife " was a complete lunatic; she was busy bouncing off the walls and was very unorganized. Secondly, only two waitresses in the place were visibly overwhelmed and frustrated, and lastly, the food was awful. The fish was very "fishy", it smelled and tasted disgusting, and the chicken tasted like flavored cardboard. The tacos were so awful we couldn't even eat them. When we mentioned this to our waitress she offered nothing but a shrug of her shoulder, no apology or apologetic gesture whatsoever. And to top it all off, when we got the bill, they charged an extra .95 cents to add about .05 oz of cheese to each taco. The only good thing I have to say was that the chips and salsa were pretty good and the carnitas was edible. To conclude, don't waste your time with this establishment. I love supporting local businesses, but I promise you that I will never return to this particular Taco Surf ever again!

Fun place to hang out – I stopped in here just wanting to kick back and have a drink, and this place definitely did the trick. It was a Saturday night and there was a good amount of people but it never felt overcrowded. The food was okay, nothing out of this world, but was satisfactory. Also, they didn't skimp on the drinks which many places often do on busy nights!

Taco Fun – We stopped in on our way home through Dana Point with the intention of just getting a quick bite to eat. After a few cocktails, the band started playing so we ended up staying for a few hours. It was really fun. The locals were really friendly and the service was good. I have been to a few other Taco Surf's so I know the food is good.
