Great Place – Well I live near the place So i go there every week.
The place is very nice and i love what they did with the place. I would drive an hour to eat here
good for a night out – i came with some friends, and it was fun. The employees didn't come over and tell us to shut up. And tgey give you a huge amount of food for a little bit of money
The best chicken I ever had! – The service is great and the food is yummy. The workers seemed freindly. Now i come there every week. I wuld come more often but im busy. One of the best resteraunts i've been in and i've been in a lot of resteraunts.
I've eaten a lot of chinese food, but I've never tasted anything like the food at China Place. all of the food tastes fresh and delicious. the workers are friendly and polite.
Really bad – I don't have huge expectations from a cheap place. Food is ok, but most of the time it isn't fresh. Their manager is also too rude.
bad on sushi, bad on service, bad on sake – This place tries to do Chinese and Japanese delivery and gets the latter all wrong. They circulate two seperate menus, one Chinese "China Place", one Japanese for "Hana Restaurant", but it's the same place. I ordered a "New York Roll" which was unedible, basically like something that's been lying around for three days. I called and cursed out the manager, daring him to come over and try to eat this &^%$. I'm a born New Yorker so I did not fail to pepper my sentences with colorful language. Anyway, he called me back to offer me a credit for the roll, though I'm not sure I'll make use of it after this stomach turning experience.
The cold sake I ordered was basically warm sake with a bunch of weeds floating around and a few ice cubes dropped in and an extra styrofoam container of ice, not the nice compact bottles I've gotten from the other places. Make it cold yourself I guess. The delivery guy looked like a Chinatown thug and sulked away after receiving the money without a "thank you" or a "good-bye." I've ordered Chinese from this place, which was passable, but they need to rethink their sushi devision. There are far two many restaurants trying to expand their business by doing pan-Asian or by offering sushi without the expertise or without their heart being in it.
Standard Chinese food, rude enough that I won't order from here again on principle – The food here is fine if you're looking for standard Chinese delivery. What surprised me, though, was the rudeness of who I believe was the manager.
I placed an order through campusfood, and the restaurant has a deal where you can pick from a list of free items when your order is over $10. One of those items is "seaweed salad", which sounded great, so I ordered it.
When the order arrived, the "seaweed salad" turned out to be only lettuce, cucumber, and tomato, so I called the restaurant and asked why this had happened. I tried to explain it to whoever answered the phone, but she soon turned me over to her superior.
He informed me that it was a problem on the website menu that they were aware of, and that he couldn't give me the seaweed salad on the house. I said that was fine, but I told him I thought they should at least try to change the website, since it was misleading. I guess I was hoping for an apology, and maybe an offer to replace that item with a different free item. Instead, what I got was an angry manager who asked me if I wanted him to call the "computer company" and tell them to take all their free items off. I suppose the implication was that I should be happy with anything I get for free, and complaining about being misled was going to ruin the free menu item party for everyone.
Maybe this is the nature of the business - cheap Chinese places aren't going to have the level of customer service that a nicer restaurant would. Making a form of threat, though, in response to a legitimate customer complaint seems beyond the pale. You'd think my repeat business would be worth something to them, maybe the value of my recommendations, but either it isn't or the manager didn't think about it. Either way, I won't be ordering from China Place again.
China Place is the only place for Chinese food in Harlem! – The BEST Chinese food Uptown! Speedy delivers, great food, decent prices, and friendly service combine to ensure an enjoyable repast. The Yang Chow fried rice will make you wanna sm@ck somebody's Mama! Design Your Own dish helps the weight watcher crew! The cold sesame noodles, which are a freebie when you order $10+, are delectable. The avocado salad is a personal fave. And, the honey BBQ rib tips are yummy!
