This Williamsburg staple has been serving joe to local coffee addicts (almost) before the neighborhood was cool. – In Short
One of the iconic institutions on Williamsburg's now-renowned Bedford strip, The Verb still manages to be a favorite of loyal locals despite the influx of trend-seekers and tourists. Earth tones abound inside, and vintage (rather, just really old) furniture and decor make for a shabby chic, faux-artist's workshop vibe. Or maybe that just comes from the specialty art bookstore next door--either way, this is a certifiable hipster hot spot.
Hits: The outside seating area offers some of the best people-watching in New York, with all kinds of hipsters and foreign tourists walking by on Bedford Avenue.
Misses: The cluttered décor and narrow space that makes the place cozy also means there's hardly any sitting room.
User review by vinylpvc – It's all about the coffee... amazing! Although the pastries are very nice, too.
krappy coffee, good sandwiches – For a coffee shop this has some of the worst coffee I've had in the city. Its burned to a crisp, unnecessarily hot, and even someone who likes their coffee dark like myself found it too strong... probably from boiling the hell out of the grounds.
Coffee and arrogant staff aside the sandwiches are great, the soup has always been good, and its a nice place to kick back and watch the hipsters tragically go on their daily leisure. Just have some tea instead.
