Deceptive. Not Board certified and always talking about money. Went elsewhere
Grand Central Stations BEST ORAL SURGEON! – After going through a root canal with my dentist...I was told I had to get an apicoectomy. Great, just my luck. My dentist referred my to Dr. Klein, and I am so glad that he did. I opted for General Anesthesia (spelling?) and when I woke up everything was done. The pain was gone, and the swelling was minimal. He is such a great doctor, I would recommend him to anyone!
Dr Klein and staff were excellent – I was definitely nervous to have my wisdom teeth pulled, i get queazy in those situations and I hardly ever write reviews but with the great experience I had I felt compelled to share. First, Dr. Klein was a true gentleman and took his time to explain the procedure and what to expect and was able to get me comfortable which was a big feat in itself. The procedure went very smoothly. After the procedure his team took great care to attend to me in a very comfortable post op room. I didnt feel anything during the procedure and Dr Klein took his time again to explain the expectations post procedure. Two days later I called to ask a question and they were extremely prompt to return my call and help me out. The recovery was exactly as they described and follow up was a breeze. Dr Klein was excellent as was his friendly and accomodating staff. I highly recommend Dr Klein & Grand Central Oral - he was excellent!
Best Oral Surgeon in New York – I went to Dr. Klein at Grand Central Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and had a great experience! I was so worried about having my wisdom teeth extracted and he made me feel right at ease. He took his time with me to explain everything and I knew what to expect. The staff was so nice and i was really surprised when i woke up and thought nothing had happened yet. My recovery has been a breeze! if you have to have oral surgery..Dr. Klein is the best!!
Dr. Desmond Ward is the Best Oral Surgeon in NYC. – Dr. Desmond Ward is fantastic oral surgeon. I originally saw Dr. Stephen J. Klein but switched to Dr. Desmond Ward because all his patients came out of the office singing his praises! Dr. Ward is Board Certified and and is a surgeon at Cornell medical center, and Dr. Klein,I found out is not Board Certified. Dr. Ward cares about his patients. It seems that Dr. Klein only cares about how much money his patients pay him. Dr. Ward is professional and awesome - will recommend him to everyone. Best oral surgeon in NYC!
Heed the Warnings! – Dr. Desmond Ward did an excellent, professional job wih my oral surgery. The office staff is extremely considerate and efficient. Unfortunately, Dr. Stephen J. Klein, according to his office staff, is in charge of the finances.
All the reviews about Dr. Klein's services are true - it is a nightmare to get any kind of payment due you. The staff over-estimated my out-of-pocket. I was considerate and paid the amount by credit card promptly. When my insurance also promptly paid all benefits due, it turned out I had paid Dr. Klein's office too much and was due a refund.
It has been weeks and weeks of almost daily phone calls trying to get the refund back from this doctor. Contrary to some of the other posts here, it is NOT THE STAFF, as the staff is extremely uncomfortable trying to hedge, dodge and excuse the lack of my refund. They have finally admitted that it is Dr. Klein who makes this determination. This is SHAMEFUL, as I was quick to (over) pay, and now I am not receiving my money.
Please heed all the prior reviews....their billing is a nightmare and according to his staff, it is Dr. Klein who is in charge and does not act.
GREAT ORAL SURGEON! – I've been putting off having my wisdom teeth pulled out until it started bothering me. All four have broken through the gum line and food keeps getting stuck in between them, and also two have gotten cavities. I've decided to get them all out at the same time so my best option was to go to an oral surgeon because my regular dentist can only work on my two upper wisdom teeth. I've read all of Dr. Klein's reviews and they're all pretty much on target. I opted to be asleep through the whole thing, and expected a painful recovery but believe it or not, I have none. Aside from the normal swelling of my cheeks and some soreness, the pain level from 1-10, (10 being most painful), I'd have to say its 3. He's either a miracle worker or I just lucked out. Im writing this on the 3rd day after surgery and i'm already eating normal food. With careful chewing of course. My first initial consult with Dr. Klein, he took the time to run over the billing with me. Because of some negative reviews about the billing problems, I just made sure to run all the billing a week before my tooth extraction, i called my insurance to see if they will cover what is supposed to be covered, and I called Dr. Klein's office again and asked what is to be paid out of pocket. Overall, I'm super happy with the results and I would definitely go back if I ever need to again.
Poor billing process - BEWARE – My wife was referred to this practice, was told the insurance would cover everything and was then asked to sign some forms while under anaesthetic.
It turns out the dental insurance company (Cigna) refused to pay the bill (since the amount was beyond their coverage) and we were left with a large amount to cover from our own pockets.
Having spoken to the insurance company it transpires that had the dental surgeon waited just one month then the insurance coverage period would have reset and the insurance company would have honoured the charges. Furthermore, the dental surgeon would have known about this as they can check via computer the state of the patient's dental insurance. I can only conclude that the predatory business instincts of this medical practioner are stronger than any ethical standards they may profess to uphold.
BEWARE THIS OF THIS PREDATOR.
BILLING is AWFUL-please think twice before going here – Where to begin. I wasted countless hours and time on trying to receive back the money I paid out of pocket for the services I received. I first have to say that the surgery for the extraction of my teeth was great, and the doctors were competent and friendly. However, the billing there is horrendous. There are two people at the office who handle billing and they have to be the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with: they lose mail, claim they haven’t received things when the provider clearly sent it in, and lose faxes after you send them in-it is really astonishing. Time is a valuable asset to me because of the nature of my profession and I can tell you I have spent over 10 hours trying to help them at the office in connection with my billing. Please, I beg you if you don’t want to have to deal with drama, having dental work done is enough pain, then stay away from this place. Dr. Klein and Dr. Ward if you happen to be reading this please get new billing staff so your office can be known for what really matters, which is your excellent performance of oral surgery.
The Best Dentist EVER! – Dr. Klein was referred to me by my regular dentist, Stewart Lantner (btw is also another FANTASTIC dentist if your looking for one- located at 200 west 57th street, 8th floor) when I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled out. He was very friendly, very patient, and explained in detail the procedure. Even on the day of the surgery, he went through everything again and put my mind at ease. I wasn’t in as much pain as I thought I would be. I highly recommend Dr. Klein!
