Awesome blowout by Ana! – I have very thick, curly hair and don't get it blown out very frequently. Being that I 've only been living in the city for a few months, I don't have a salon of choice yet. I searched for a place close to me with fairly inexpensive prices. Here they charged me $40 for a blowout with flatiron, with my hair thickness and length in consideration (or it would have been less). The staff was extremely friendly and my hairdresser, Ana, did a great job! To my luck, they were able to take me in with such short notice. Also, Ana surprised me with her speed and skill and talking to her made me feel like I had been coming to her for years. We also discussed other things I'd like to do with my hair in the future, she was very knowledgeable and updated. I was very pleased when I left and received so so many compliments on my hair throughout the course of the evening. Definitely ask for Ana!!!!
Avoid this place! – I had a terrible experience at this salon. I came out with a burnt scalp and the opposite of what I had asked to have done (darken my roots- came out with an orange stripe!) The staff was not apologetic at all and said it was a misunderstanding, even though I had asked twice to make sure they knew what I wanted. They reluctantly offered to have me come back and have it fixed - but after this ordeal I'll never go back!
Gemma is the best! – Gemma is amazing. She also cuts my friend's hair, and I loved her cut so much that I decided to get Gemma to cut my hair too. I never imagined that my hair could look so good.
Believe the hype- Shiela is great – I had gone to Sheila few times in the past and thought she was alright, but it took her fixing another stylists mistake to make me fully appreciate her. For those of you out there who need to get their hair thinned- Shiela is your girl. She never takes too much out and leaves my hair sleek, not over done or, alternatively, boxy. She also gave me her honest opinion on dyeing my hair ( i shouldn't do it) which was refreshing to hear in a world where people love to rake in money from double processes and full-head foils.
Editorial Review – Upscale salon and spa adjacent to Gramercy Park provides the neighborhood with haircuts, color, manicures, massages and facials.
Would NOT go any place else – The Gramercy Park Salon hides fantastic talent in a charming village salon. I was told about Sheila by a colleague. I was reluctant to go since I had been going to the same person for years. But, when I moved to NYC traveling back home to get my hair done was not an option. Sheila listened to everything I asked for and was able to do exactly what I wanted. I am a blonde (a particular blonde, at that!) and she matched my low-lights, high-lights and skin tone perfectly. Worth every penny!
Thank You Rudy!!! – Rudy is the best colorist I have ever met. If you are really picky about getting the exact color, he is the answer for all your wishes. Even though the salon itself is not a great atmosphere, for me it is a matter of leaving the salon satisfied with my hair color.
Rudy is Amazing! – Blondes -- trust your hue to Rudy!! Until we met, I had always been dissatisfied with my hilights -- either I was not blonde enough or the color became too brassy. Rudy understood EXACTLY what I was looking for, he listened to my requests and frustrations and has given me he best color ever. He is also really great with blow-outs -- he does a lot of magazine work and is very talented with styling.
For a neighborhood salon, the prices are not cheap -- single process and hilights run about $250, but the value is SO worth it.
They actually listen!! – After going to so many hair salons where the staff doesn't actually listen to me, and after hearing, "Don't worry, I'll make you beautiful. Trust me," and then proceeding to hate my hair, it's nice to have found a place where my opinion actually counts. Sheila is not only a skilled hair cutter, but she always listens to what I say and she cuts my hair based on my wants and needs. She also doesn't hesitate to give me her expert opinion as well.
Anytime I've left Gramercy Park Salom, I've always looked good and felt good, and as we all know. nothing feels better than walking out of a hair salon and loving your new cut. So, yes, I'd definitely recommend it. :)
nice surprise – I was in the area and needed an eyebrow waxing. After seeing the price list I decided to give it a try. Though there is nothing fancy about this place, it is very clean. The staff was very friendly and she did a good job. I have sensitive skin and the woman was very gentle. It was well worth the 10 dollars!
