Yummy Korean food!! – I have been eating at Sushi Zen since 2004 and have enjoyed both the Sushi menu and the Korean menu. The restaurant is owned by the nicest couple in the world... the hostess is always smiling and very friendly. Nice quiet atmosphere is perfect for date night with the significant other, or just a family dinner.
My favorite menu items would have to be the bibimbap and bulgogi (although it is so hard to choose). The bibimbap comes to the table in a sizzling hot stone bowl which makes it fun and delicious!
They also bring several kinds of kimchi to the table with your korean food order. They make the most amazing kimchi....
anyhow, I could go on all day about this place but I'll stop here. Just give them a try, you will be amazed!! :)
You are treated accordingly as it should be... – If you're being treated poorly re-examine what you are calling manors. The staff is a close group and doesn't put up with gripey customers. Good service is earned at this restaurant. If you get crappy service it is most likely that ''THEY'' don't want ''YOU'' back...!
Tasty Food & Good Service – This place has been here a long time, which says a lot in the restaurant biz. I have been here 5-6 times in the past couple of years, and the service is consistently prompt, polite, and accurate. This makes it perfect for a quick lunch, or a leisurely lunch meeting. The sushi and sashimi is competently prepared, although not outstanding. The food is tasty, but not the best I have ever tasted. You will not have a bad meal here, but do not expect 5-star quality. That said, the "box lunches" are delicious, and a reasonable value. I would give the food here 3.5 stars, and the service 4.5. Thus my 4 star rating. Go in with lowered expectations, and you will be pleased.
Best sushi and asian food! – The staff were fun and friendly, nice welcoming enviroment , great food. My girlfriend loved it and we will be visiting often.
suckeddddddddd – worst sushi and service everrrrrrrrrrrrr! The atmosphere is not welcoming at all!
worst sushi I have ever had – I love sushi. I like to try new places as often as possible. Today I had sushi from Sushi Zen and it was horrible. They got my order wrong and didn't even care to apologize about it. Bad customer service. I ordered the California roll and it was warm! My husband the zen roll which is supposed to be fried and it was just chewy and gross. We both got very sick after eating it, it made it extremely sick after eating it. I would never recommend this place to anyone! I am never eating there again.
Best Sushi I've had! – Sushi Zen is tucked away in the shopping center next to Winn-Dixie. I've lived in the area for over a year and been eating at Sushi Zen for almost a year now. I didn't even know it was here until my last girlfriend found it while we were looking for a good sushi place in my area. It was right across the street from my apartment! The people that run it are all very nice and always give good service. Reading the negative reviews on here, I would bet money those people were rude to the staff at Sushi Zen since I've never seen them act poorly towards a customer and the food always comes out quickly. I eat her a lot, and my favorites are the St. Pete Roll, Kentucky Roll, Joe Roll, Tuna Tataki (on the appetizer menu), and I always order at least two California Rolls. The sushi is always very fresh and the chef makes the sushi efficiently and quick but still with a nice presentation. There are also many different drinks you can order, and green tea ice cream. The atmosphere is usually quiet and relaxing, unless they are just packed with people. Anyone I want to introduce to sushi for the first time, or show them that sushi doesn't taste bad like they have had in the past, I bring to Sushi Zen. I have converted several people to loving sushi, or at least being ok with it again, because of how good this place is. The price you pay is more then worth the quality and service you get. I've tried other places in this area, both in St. Pete and Tampa, and none compare but a few come close. Most of the customers that I meet when I'm eating here have also been coming for a while, some of them for years. They are always excited to be here and consider it a tasty treat like I do. Don't take my word for it, just come try it out, maybe I'll see you there if you come around 6pm since that is when I will be there if I go there to eat dinner.
Excellent Sushi – I have eaten here many times and love the Tampa Rolls and the St. Pete Rolls and many of th unique sushi rolls they offer here; the Sushi chef is very personable and always says good-bye when we leave, even if he is very busy. The Manager has always been nice to me, although about half of the times the waitresses are slow and offer poor service. I always have been at lunchtime and sometimes it is very busy and the wait is longer. But I enjoy their sushi very, very much and would recommend it. This is a small restaurant with limited ambiance, but the sushi is worth it. They offer a "box" lunch that is a good sampler, too.
Don't GO, Sunny (the Manager) is very rude and the customer is NOT always right!!!! – 02/09/2007 - Was dining with a co-worker, we ordered the all you can eat sushi buffet. It's supposed to come with salad and soup. We received the sushi we ordered first without the salad or soup. Finally someone realized we didn't receive our salad or soup and brought us our salad. Then, I decided I wanted more sushi, the Tampa Roll. I ordered it and 20 minutes later, still had not receieved my sushi. It was time to get back to work so I requested the waitress to wrap my tampa rolls so I could take them back to work. We only get one hour for lunch. The manager came and told me should WOULD NOT wrap my tampa rolls to go and that it was my problem that I didn't have enough time to wait for my rolls. She then proceeded to call the St. Pete. Police. We had to wait almost 2 hours for the officer to show up. It was absolutely absurd, the whole situation. The manager (Sunny) was VERY rude, and just plain nasty and stubborn.
Maybe Korean food is their strong suit... – I ordered sushi to go. It was slow to get a person to take my order at lunchtime, my order was all wrong, and the sushi was fair at best. The salmon was a bit mushy and warm. I won't be going back.
