Bucking the tread (don't believe everything you read) – Contrary to everything I read, I "rolled the dice" and purchased a full size bed set for my 13 year daughter at this store. She had fallen in love with the particular frame and headboard. I unsuccessfully tried to sway her to other furniture stores, but she relentlessly pursuing the set at Fine Interiors. Reluctantly, I acquiesced and agreed to make the purchase from this company.
What induced a further sense of dread, was the realization that my daughters dream bed set was only available in queen size. The salesman, who as it turns out was also the company owner, told me that they could simply modify the set and turn it into a full size. This would require cutting several inches off of the side rails. Routing the edges, re-staining the wood, etc). Although the owner and his wife seemed like nice people, my preconceived notions were screaming at me to grab my daughter - hold onto my wallet- and run from the store, However, I trudged forward with the purchase. As soon as we were in the car, I proceeded to tell my daughter to not get excited about her new bedroom because, based upon everything I read, chances were high: 1) The furniture would takes months to arrive and 2) because of the complications of modifying the woodwork, it would almost certainly be seriously screwed up. If nothing else, I took pride in the knowledge, that this would be a good learning experience for my daughter. She would therefore never question my judgement again..
How wrong I was. I am delighted to say that, the bed set arrived at the promised time, the delivery men were very polite and curious. And as far as the modifications are concerned: It was nearly impossible to tell that the furniture had been cut. There was only a slightly under-stained area beneath one of the side rails, which supplied evidence that work was performed.
Moral of the story: perhaps it's occasionally better to trust your own judgement, and not rely solely on the experiences of other people. After all, I imagine, the vast majority of people who take the time to post a review, want to vent their frustrations. In fact, this is the first time which I have ever taken the time to post a positive response myself. I guess it's human nature, to just take the good for granted.
In summation, although they sell a moderate price point furniture, my experiences with this company would rate them equal to or better than my experiences with what one might consider better area chains like Sedlak's or Fish Furniture. I fact, I seriously doubt if many other furniture retailers would offer the service of customizing the woodwork for a customer.
Rip off /Crooks – I paid $800.00 for four chairs on Jan 28 2011 my chairs was suppose to be delivered on they told me my chairs will be delivered on Feb 7,2011 and as of today i'm still waiting they say now they are on back order they want refund my money they tell me the same lie every week that they will be in next week I cant believe it I really think I have been ripped off I wouldn't recommend them to my worse enemy SUE and Dan are liars it should be a crime what they are doing to people I called mentor police,I filed with the BBB and i'm going to go to the news maybe they can get my money back I don't want the chairs it turns my stomach to do business with a bunch of crooks.I'm so frustrated I cant believe these people it still in business its very relevant that they are holding people money to pay their bills.They hold people money for 3 months then release it when they want or send the wrong furniture its one of the oldest scams just in a different way they are crooks and its just not fair.
Never again!! – I experienced the same thing as Kristymadtown. My boyfriend and I ordered an Audio Tower. They told us it would be shipped in 3 weeks. Three weeks later, I spoke to 3 different people that didn't know anything after calling two days in a row and no one answering the phone. I mean, come on! At least have an answering machine! They then informed us it would be another 3 weeks and they would refund us a small amount for the tardiness. It's been three weeks, there's been no credit to my account and no calls after calling once again and not getting any answer, I finally talked to someone who said that I would be called the next day. I was not called. Surprise! I'm kicking myself for not reading these reviews first because there's is no refund, just "store credit" I cannot wait to go through the delivery process. That sounds like a barrel of monkies.
Run, don't walk, away from this place!! – My husband and I ordered a couch, chair, and ottoman from this place on 03/13/2010 (paid cash) and were told we would have our furniture in 2 weeks. We received our chair and ottoman as promised, but no couch. Every week, when we call to check on our order status, we are told a different date further out than the last of when it "will be on the delivery truck from the factory." My husband has requested that our salesman, Dan, call us back to discuss this matter and he never called us. My husband, in turn, called to speak to a manager and was told someone would call him back. This was over a week ago and no manager has called us. Now, we are trying to call again today to figure out where our couch is and NO ONE IS ANSWERING THE PHONE. I hope this is not an indication of anything........we are absolutely FED UP with this place. I would not recommend this place to my WORST enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disaster – I thought we would be the exception to the unprofessionalism of the Fine Interiors delivery system, but we are not. After anxiously awaiting two weeks for the arrival of our couch,they called us on Monday to tell us that we will have to wait another 2 weeks. I was extremely disappointed. It was suppose to be delivered on Tuesday along with our bed. But GUESS WHAT? They did not deliver our bed either. They had us like stew in a pot, just sitting for hours upon hours. We could not leave because we did not want to miss them and pay the $40.00 surcharge. They were a no call no show. If they were working for us they would have been fired, which is exactly what I wanted to do. They will supposedly deliver our bed tomorrow. I am going to contact the BBB to report this situation. I would love a full refund of our money but the contract says that they do not give refunds. Is that still allowed when they are not holding up their end of the bargain? Sounds like breach of contract to me. I WILL NEVER, NEVER recommend them to anyone ever again in all of my existence. And if anyone says,"Go to Fine Interiors," within earshot of my hearing I will hollar to the top of my lungs. "DON'T DO IT, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE." I think this will deter many from making the huge mistake that we have.
Decent furniture....horrible service – The purchase was fine, along with the salesman. However, delivery was a nightmare to say the least. I was scheduled for TH delivery...no show...callled their warehouse only to find I was "pushed" to the next day---which would be great if I sat at home all day-1 day of work lost. The warehouse scheduler advised she would have me 1st delievry in the AM the following day...not so much...Called the warehouse requesting status of my delivery...she had no clue!!! We ended up finding out that my furniture was placed on another truck for a 5p delivery.....2 days of work lost. Nothing more frustrating than an incompetent organization, that cannot communicate with each other to accomplish the extremely hard task of making a delievry of an item purchased by a paying customer. Spend the extra 10% somewhere else and deal with a reputable org or rent a truck and pick it up yourself.
