Long Version with explanation:
I had high hopes with all the fantastic reviews boy were they short lived...
I set up my appointment and made the titanic error of letting the person setting the appointment know I had a Groupon, which I think in part lead to how I was treated. As a individual who works in the service industry I know that the majority of Groupon users shaft on the tip. However don't give shitty service on that assumption you just might loose a really fantastic customer and huge tipper. Willow got me in on very short notice and was extremely courteous and provisional which I appreciate. When I got there the Salon was clean bright and very inviting, however after that my experience was all down hill. I showed up for my appointment at the correct time, checked in and then waited for 30 mins, while my stylist finished up with her other guest all the way through the checking out process, a conversation and sale of a product. I then went back with her to her station where we discussed what I wanted with the conclusion of face framing and a trim with long layers while keeping the length. From there things spiraled downhill she was terse and not very friendly throughout the entire visit. She pulls and yanks harder while washing and cutting than my mom when I was little. I am no shrinking violet and generally brush my hair by yanking the brush through so I in no way have a tender head however it was a painful process. As for keeping the length I went in with hair that was all the same length and went to the middle of my back around 20" long and now the longest part is to the shoulders with horrible choppy layers the shortest at 6" in the back. Last time I checked a loss of 14" was not "keeping the length". The one and only redeeming factor about the haircut is that I can still put it up in a pony tail so I can hide it for the next few years while it grows out. When the butcher and styling was done with my head still stinging from the yanking I was pointed at the door to check out with someone else who would "take care of the Groupon" (no personalized check out for me) while she enthusiastically greeted her next client. I picked out some Bb products by myself and checked out with a different employee I left my stylist a very nice tip despite the shitty service no point in perpetuating the bad Groupon tippers. But I will NEVER BE BACK...
The whole point of Groupon is to introduce people to new places in order to get return business, and yea a lot of people only intend on using the Groupon and moving on but some of us really want to find a place we can use again and again... For me however this place is not it...
Let's just say I'm not happy. This salon is OVER price!! Seriously? You charge me 100$ for some crappy high lights? I know I had the hroupon that worth 139$, 100$ for hair services and the rest goes to something else.The person whom Was in charge of me was Kristina. She was nice at first, and then, when it comes to dying my hair, she tug and pull. I know you have I get the root to the fullest, but he didn't have to pull my hair so hard that it hurts. There's no connection between the client and the hairstylist at all. She also hit my head with the blow dryers, as if it didn't hurt my head. I was was annoyed. Afterwords I expect my hair to be soft and silky but no, it was not. It was dry, and I couldn't run my fingers through without getting stuck along the way. The products that they used was not good. My hair feels so nice when I do it at home, but this is just bad, so far. This is my first experience at a salon, but I've been with my sister to so many places, they never charge that much for hair dye. This place is over price! Over over over! So expensive! not recommended at all! Too expensive.
The three stars is for the color. It turned out okay, not bad, but not amazingly good. And they offered me water, and it was a pretty clean salon. But truly expensive.
Normally I always respond with "the client is always right.".. I simply cannot do that at this time. I realize that you are only in High School, so you may not fully understand or appreciate what it takes to do a haircolor on waist long, dark, Asian hair. Nevermind the product cost, your expectations were unrealistic. . You were rude and behaved like a spoiled child. You even went so far as to grab the flat iron out of her hand. Let me also point out that Cristina came in 2 hrs early to accomodate you. Something she would only normally do for a regular, thankful person. You ,yourself said the color was good. If she lacked any type of repoir with you, it was because of your rude behavior. Cristina is a sweet lady, who does a great job. You ( or most likely, your mom) paid $40.00 for a $100.00 service and are complaining? Shame on you. I hope you learn how to behave the next time you go to a salon, and give the stylist the respect they deserve.
Portland's Best Salon – I have been a Halo customer since the first day it opened. I love the place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The interior is elegant. The products are great.

Good location - great haircut – I decided to try this salon after three awful haircuts since moving here from the northeast and I wasn't disappointed. Nice clean space, Bumble & Bumble products which I love and a stylist, Josh, who understood my frustration and delivered. Got my hair colored too and love the natural, shiny color! Got lots of complements at the family wedding I attended. Also found parking around the corner fairly easily which is sometimes hard in Portland. I will return.

Great haircut - great service – Being new to town, I was looking for a great salon. I checked the reviews of Halo salon on Citysearch and thought I would give it a try. Jason, the stylist, gave me an excellent haircut. He followed the general lines of my current hairstyle, but gave it an extra zing - an extra flair. He's very talented - fun - and respectful of what you want/need. I will go back!

Perfect Hair Cut – There are three points I would love to make about this place:
1. I loved my hair cut - I have never paid more than $40 for a hair cut, usually including tip. I believe that my hair should look nice, but I have always been low maintenance. Josh was my hair stylist and he kept is simple and easy to manage. It was everything I wanted and more. I was surprised to find out that my hair cut and lip/brow wax only cost me $65.00, I was expecting much more (I had a 10% off coupon from this site) I am terrible at math and tipped 35-40%. My total tip was $26 on a $65 bill :) But it was TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!
2. Personal service was excellent - when I originally check in I was with Sydney, she hadn't asked my name and since I thought I was late she thought I was her client. I was pleased with the level of service I got from both her and Josh. When I told Josh I didn't ever use product and never will he was awesome and didn't push any product on me. I had read all the reviews from this website including the good, the bad and the ugly. I was to the point and specific about what I liked and disliked and I got everything I wanted.
3. Out of my way - I have only been to Portland two other times, I live in between Seattle and Tacoma, but JOSH YOU CAN BE EXPECTING ME IN THREE MONTHS :) yep that is right, I LOVED this place so much that I am going to drive 3 hours + for a hair cut... I will be calling around Sept for an appointment.
Thanks Halo... also if you wanted to come to Seattle I would totally support you transferring Josh this way :)

Total Transformation! – I can't say enough about Cristina, she is absolutely wonderful. She not only listened to everything I had to say, she recommended and performed to perfection. The cut and color totally suits my face. I have found an incredible stylist!

When I started going to her, Laurie Ann had to "organize" a bad hair cut that I just received (lots of layers) and repair some bad color (blond gone brassy). I think she worked miracles.

Great experience! – I've been to Halo twice now, and both times have been great. I've had my hair cut by both Jessica and Jess: both were just WONDERFUL. Jessica had a fantastic attention to detail giving me an excellent haircut that to this day is the best style I've ever had. Jess was also just beyond exceptional. II had her cut a style that was new for me. She listened to my every request, cut with wonderful attention to detail and was great to chat with. I can't thank either of them enough!
